Andrew Payne shared thisWith AI voice there was always a little bit missing. The concept of conversational “turns” didn’t quite get us to a normal human conversation. Now with ChatGPT voice it moves a lot closer and I predict by the end of the year (without legislative changes) we will not be able to tell the difference between human and artificial voice. We can now mimic human behaviour, have two conversations at once, handle interruptions and complete knowledge searches in parallel. The build out of data centres will take away the previous latency in voice traffic and models are now much better at forming and maintaining conversations. I look forward to testing ChatGPT voice when it becomes avialable. Andrew Payne reposted thisAndrew Payne reposted thisThis Wednesday! 🥂 The Dementia Care Social Club is back, and this time we are gathering at the beautiful Kimpton Margot Sydney for an evening dedicated to putting people back at the center of dementia care. We are excited to be joined by Dr Tom Morris, Director of the Dementia Research Program & Analytics at HammondCare. Tom brings a powerful blend of research and industry insight to the conversation. His talk, "It’s Not Rocket Science: People Over Impairments," builds on a thought-provoking question raised at our last DCSC. Tom will explore why choice is so often lost after a diagnosis, moving past rigid "best practices" to focus instead on personal identity, preferences, and the fundamental right to make life decisions. It’s an invitation to rethink safety, independence, and risk-enabled care so that person can continue to live a life that feels purposeful. 📅 Date: Wednesday 15 July 2026 ⏰ Time: 6:00 to 8:00 pm 📍 Location: The Kimpton Margot | 339 Pitt St, Sydney 💡 Topic: It’s Not Rocket Science: People Over Impairments ✨ Vibe: Welcoming, informal, human Whether you are living with dementia, a family member, carer, clinician, researcher, student, or simply passionate about shifting the narrative toward more dignified, human-centric support - you are very welcome! As always, the event, food, and drinks are on us. We still have a few spots remaining! Bring a friend, tag a colleague, share with your network, and join us for an evening of great food, drinks, and conversation. 👉 To secure your seat, send me a message or email k.numbers@unsw.edu.au. #DementiaCare #DementiaResearch #SocialClub #SydneyEvents #AgedCare #HealthcareInnovation Monique Pockran

Cicada Innovations is looking for two Venture Executives to join our national team; one to lead our BioMedTech portfolio, one to champion our Critical Technologies portfolio. Most deep tech founders will tell you the hardest thing isn't the science. It's everything that comes after. We're looking for people who know that from experience, and who want to be in the room when it matters most. You'll coach founders through the hardest parts of commercialisation, open doors across capital, industry and government, and help shape the programs and playbooks that raise the bar for Australia's deep tech ecosystem. You'll work as part of a high-performing team, sharing intelligence, networks and hard-won frameworks across a national portfolio. 🔬 Venture Executive – BioMedTech | Part-time | NSW or VIC ⚙️ Venture Executive – Critical Technologies | Part-time | NSW or VIC Interested in applying? Andrew Payne reposted thisAndrew Payne reposted this2030 is not a distant future anymore. It is already being shaped today. This infographic reveals something bigger than demographics. It reveals a massive shift in how we will live, work, invest, build companies, and lead people. By 2030: • The oldest Millennials will turn 50 • 693 million Baby Boomers will reach retirement age • Gen Z will become the world’s largest generation • China’s workforce will shrink • Healthcare spending will explode • Millennials will dominate the workforce • Sustainability will become a business necessity, not a trend The next decade will reward those who understand human shifts before market shifts. This is why AI, automation, healthcare, longevity, education, climate innovation, and personal branding matter more than ever. The companies that win won’t just sell products. They will solve demographic problems. The leaders who thrive won’t just manage teams. They will learn how to bridge generations. And the professionals who stay relevant won’t compete against AI alone. They will combine human wisdom + technology leverage. Every major demographic transition in history created new fortunes, new industries, and new opportunities. 2030 belongs to those preparing now. The future is not something that happens to us. It is something we build ahead of everyone else. Follow the signals. Adapt early. Build relentlessly. The next decade may become the greatest opportunity window of our lifetime.

Andrew Payne reacted on thisThank you Lynn Wood for an invite to join IdeaSpies. I look forward to sharing in this group. As way of introduction at Careplans.io we have built AI voice companions that conduct emotionally aware check-in calls with aged care residents, postnatal mothers, medical trial participants and many other cohorts. Careplans.io listens with empathy, understands subtle changes in mood or wellbeing, and automatically surfaces anything that needs attention. Check-in’s are conducted on mobiles and landlines, no need for apps or browsers. Loneliness is a worldwide crisis and we are currently in pilot with a large Australian Healthcare Provider to check in on elderly participants who live at home alone. The system converts voice into actions in realtime and can transfer to a human nurse / doctor / carer at any time. Let me know if I can provide any additional information. Open to any feedback and suggestions. Regards Andrew Payne careplans.io nonni.ai ndisgoal.ai andrew@careplans.io 04 111 999 04

Then I got back to my car and found this note taped to my drivers side door, with my earbud case stuck to it. Big thanks to folks who do the kind gesture. And may this good Samaritan have the best year - they sure made my whole week!

Ian shares why AI literacy is about more than knowing how to use the tools. It is about understanding the data, the consequences, the guardrails and who remains accountable when AI is used. He’ll continue the conversation in Canberra on 21 October in the panel: AI Literacy: Leveraging Capability for Responsible Use Across Government Joined by Alice Linacre, Andrew Watson and Monita Lal, Ian will explore how agencies can build confidence, enable safe adoption and balance innovation with governance, security and public trust. Andrew Payne liked thisAndrew Payne liked thisFour years ago, Danny Ellerd was 92 pounds, living under a bridge and trapped in a 15-year addiction. When police found him, they weren’t just looking at an arrest, they were looking at someone who was close to death. Danny survived the hospital, then he made a decision that changed everything, he chose to change. He entered rehab, he put his head down and he did the hard work. Four years later, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with straight A’s and a degree in technology. Same person, completely different life. His story is a powerful reminder, sometimes the hardest step isn’t finding help, it’s deciding you’re ready to accept it. People can open the door for you, they can support you, they can give you another chance but eventually, you have to walk through the door yourself. Your past can explain where you came from, it does not have to determine where you’re going. Never underestimate what happens when someone finally decides to fight for their own future. 💪
