like one thing I think the show does understand very well is that buck is not chris’s dad. he never really parents chris. but he IS eddie’s co-parent. he is the person eddie consistently goes to for parenting advice especially recently, and he will ask buck to talk to and advise his son and eddie trusts him to do that more than anyone in the world. but buck does not take that initiative himself ever, its only when eddie asks or is otherwise indisposed. and buck is even really patient as a co-parent with eddie, hes not really interfering with the chris/eddie texas situation unless its to support eddie with a situation eddie is upset about. he is not actively advising eddie on how to fix things with chris, but rather helping eddie through the problems he finds himself in and supporting the initiatives eddie is taking with chris. until the dad up comment. and it almost felt like he was holding that in because that version of eddie in el paso, who is lost on how to parent chris, is not buck’s eddie. its not the person buck is used to co-parenting with at all. its like theres an underlying “eddie you are his dad!! be you!! chris loves you it will work out!!” to all of their conversations and its exactly what eddie needs but its also all that buck knows and the dad up! Was a verbalization of that energy. idk my point just its really beautiful how they work together as co-parents. and that is one of the things that is so delicious about post buddie canon to me like. buck will have to take that initiative and actually actively parent chris at some point. and buck needs to learn how to be that for chris !!! but also we will see this new beautiful evolution of the buddie dynamic where eddie becomes buck’s co-parent back and like. its so beautiful … <3
