Something that occurs to me- Mobian DNA usually sticks to gender lines. in the Archie Comic, Sonic and Princess Sally have a Hedgehog Son and a Chipmunk daughter.
So presumably... the only reason Comet isn't pure Hedgehog is because his mom is from another Dimension and her DNA, while still compatible with Mobians, is slightly different

I just assumed it was because the designers were lazy and fell back to “parents clone themselves” XD

Yep XD spite is beautiful. Because my friend gets annoying people bothering them for liking Sonaze I’m like “ok I’m gonna indulge in it too and I want more people to like it.” Same with Shadamy heh heh
