Introductory course for biologics development and manufacturing

16 – 27 June 2025
  • In-person (by application)
  • Date: 16-27 June 2025 (two-week course)
  • Languages: English

Low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) face significant inequity in terms of access to vaccines and other biologics and are making efforts to establish biological manufacturing in their regions. However, bilateral technology transfer and local research and development efforts are often hindered by the lack of a trained workforce in biomanufacturing.

To address this gap and to build the biomanufacturing capacity in LMICs, WHO and the Republic of Korea established the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing in Seoul. In 2025, the hub, in collaboration with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), and with support from WHO Headquarters and the WHO Academy, is organizing a new training focused on introduction to biologics development and manufacturing for 120 trainees from LMICs.

Why Attend?
After completing the course, participants will have basic and primary knowledge about areas related to biologics manufacturing including, but not limited to, pre-clinical and clinical trials, the biologics manufacturing process, quality control and quality assessment, and regulatory affairs to develop and produce vaccines and biologics. This course will consist of pre- and post-online courses followed by a two-week in-person course. At the end of each session, participants will be required to test their learning through online or in-person quizzes.
