Utah voter registration
- In Person: Received by 5PM 11 days before Election Day by the county clerk, but voters may also register during early vote and on Election Day. However, voters must vote by provisional ballot if they register in person during early voting or on Election Day.
- By Mail: Received by 5 PM 11 days before Election Day.
- Online: Received by 5 PM 11 days before Election Day.
An individual who is not registered to vote may register and vote on election day or during the early voting period by voting a provisional ballot, if:
- the individual is otherwise legally entitled to vote the ballot;
- the ballot is identical to the ballot for the precinct in which the individual resides;
- the information on the provisional ballot form is complete; and
- the individual provides valid voter identification and proof of residence to the poll worker.
To register in Utah you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States;
- Have resided in Utah for 30 days immediately before the next election, and currently reside in the precinct in which you are registering to vote;
- Be at least 18 years old by the general election in which you vote. 16- and 17-year-olds may preregister to vote, but cannot vote until they are 18 (individuals may vote in a primary election if they are 17 years old on or before the date of the primary election and will be 18 years old on or before the date of the corresponding general election);
- Not have been convicted of certain felonies, or if convicted, have had your full rights of citizenship restored (or have received a pardon);
- Not be convicted of treason or crime against the elective franchise, unless restored to civil rights;
- Not be found to be mentally incompetent by a court of law.

- Sign and date your form. This is very important!
- Mail or hand-deliver your completed form to the address we provide.
- Make sure you register before the voter registration deadline.

Utah absentee ballots
- In Person: Utah automatically sends ballots to all registered voters, but for individuals who need a ballot mailed to a location other than their registration address, an application must be received 11 days before Election Day.
- By Mail: Utah automatically sends ballots to all registered voters, but for individuals who need a ballot mailed to a location other than their registration address, an application must be received 11 days before Election Day.
- Online: Utah automatically sends ballots to all registered voters, but for individuals who need a ballot mailed to a location other than their registration address, an application must be received 11 days before Election Day.
- If in-person, received by Election Day; if mailed, postmarked the day before Election Day.
Absentee ballots will automatically be sent to all registered voters. If you need your ballot sent somewhere other than your usual address, provide the completed alternate address request form to the election officer no later than 11 days before the day of the election.
All registered Utah voters automatically receive mail ballots. If you need your ballot mailed someplace other than your usual address, go to vote.utah.gov.
- Once you receive the ballot, carefully read and follow the instructions.
- Sign and date where indicated.
- Mail your voted ballot back to the address indicated on the return envelope, or drop it off at a ballot drop box or polling place.
- Double-check the deadlines and be sure to cast your voted ballot on time to be sure it is counted.
Utah Early Voting
14 days before Election Day.
4 days before Election Day.
Utah voter ID
If you are voting in person in Utah (early or on Election Day), you must present one of the following forms of photo ID at the time you vote:
- Utah driver's license
- Utah ID card
- ID issued by Utah or a federal government agency
- Utah permit to carry a concealed weapon
- US passport
- A US military ID card
- Tribal ID card, Bureau of Indian Affairs card, or tribal treaty card (even if it doesn't include your photo)
If you don't have a photo ID you can bring any two documents showing your name and address, such as:
- A utility bill or copy of a utility bill dated within the last 90 days
- A bank or other financial account statement or copy of a statement
- A certified birth certificate
- A Social Security card
- A check issued by the state or federal government or a copy of a check
- A paycheck from your employer (or copy of a paycheck)
- A currently valid Utah hunting or fishing license
- Certified naturalization documents, but not a green card
- A certified copy of court records showing your adoption or name change
- A Medicaid or Medicare or Electronic Benefits Transfer card;
- An ID card issued by a local government within Utah
- An ID card issued by your employer
- An ID card issued by a college, university, technical school or professional school within Utah
- A current Utah vehicle registration
If you've voted in Utah before, registered in person, or provided ID at the time of registration, you don't need to provide ID to vote by mail.
If you're voting in Utah for the first time, registered to vote by mail, and didn't provide ID when you registered, be sure to enclose a copy of your photo ID, or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or government document that shows your name and address when you return your ballot.
