Where to find the Cell Key in Phantom Blade Zero
How to open the locked cell at the Outpost entrance, early in Weeping Creek Valley
The Cell Key is a unique item in Phantom Blade Zero which, as you may have guessed, unlocks a frustratingly locked door early on in the first map. A short distance into Weeping Creek Valley, just beyond the Outpost Courtyard Bell (the seventh Bell on the map), you'll find the locked door in question, built into a cave to the left of the Baishan Outpost entrance itself.
After clearing the entrance of enemies, you can inspect the cell door, but Soul won't be able to open it and reach the treasure inside without the Cell Key. Fortunately, the Cell Key isn't far away, and in this guide I'll show you the exact path to take in order to reach it and open up that pesky locked door as soon as possible.
Where to find the Cell Key in Phantom Blade Zero
The Cell Key can be found at the far end of the Outpost, behind a hut just beyond the Outpost Bell. To enter the Outpost, speak with the two guards to the right of the Outpost entrance and they will allow you inside.
Head through the Outpost until you reach the Outpost Bell, in the same area as Forge the Blacksmith. Head through the doorway up the stairs beyond the Bell, and then turn right just before you reach the two men praying at a glowing red shrine.
Avoid the Boss!
If you continue past the shrine instead of turning right, then you'll encounter a major story boss - Peng Meng, the Axemaster. So make sure you turn right before the shrine!
Follow this path up the steps and you'll reach a hut. Follow the wooden walkway around the right-hand side of the hut, and you'll reach a clearing behind the hut. Loot the gold pickup in the middle of this clearing to obtain the Cell Key.
Once you've got the Cell Key, head back the way you came until you reach the locked prison cell just before the entrance to the Outpost. With the Cell Key in your possession, you can interact with the door to open it.
What is the reward inside the Cell?
Behind the cell door is a single reward: a Blackstone Fragment, found on the ground of the cell. Blackstone Fragments are among the most important collectible resources in Phantom Blade Zero: every four Fragments you find will automatically fuse into a whole Blackstone, permanently increasing your Attack Power and Guard Break by +10%, and unlocking new skills in Soul's skill tree.
There's nothing else behind the Cell Key door, so you can now feel free to return to the Outpost Bell and continue your journey from there - most likely, towards the Axemaster boss awaiting you beyond that glowing red shrine!
