All Blackmarrow Key locations in Mortal Shell 2
How to find the Blackmarrow Keys and change a Shell's colour
If you want to change the look of your Shells in Mortal Shell 2, you'll need to find Blackmarrow Keys first. You'll learn about these items early in the campaign just as you're about to exit Marrow Keep. When you interact with various sarcophagi in the elevator chamber, you'll realize that each key unlocks a new skin/colour scheme.
In this guide, I'll tell you where I found Blackmarrow Keys in the campaign. As of the time of this writing, I've obtained five, though I've also been informed that it's not possible to unlock all the skins in a single playthrough.

Blackmarrow Keys map locations
The map below shows the locations of the Blackmarrow Keys in Mortal Shell 2. There's one in Marrow Keep, two in the Fainweald region, and two in the Mammon region. Note that one of the keys comes from a Corrupted Gate major dungeon, too.
Location #1: Marrow Keep
You can find a Blackmarrow Key in the Desolate Keep. It's actually a hidden dungeon in the Marrow Keep hub, and the entrance is near the coffins in Sester Genessa's chamber. Since the whole place has a bunch of secrets, we advise you to check the Desolate Keep section of our Mortal Shell 2 walkthrough.
Location #2: Shrine of Sorrows
There's also a Blackmarrow Key from the Shrine of Sorrows, a unique first-person horror-themed dungeon. It's located just a short distance south of the Mushroom Village in the Fainweald region. That said, this dungeon is only accessible when Night Mode is active.
Once you're able to enter this strange realm, you'll see all sorts of creepy occurrences, including gruesome scenes and macabre puzzles. If you manage to escape, you'll receive a Blackmarrow Key and a Tooth of Nochte valuable. We've got all the details for you, including all related puzzle solutions, in the Shrine of Sorrows section of our walkthrough.
Location #3: Sanguine Caverns
You can obtain a Blackmarrow Key in the Sanguine Caverns, the northernmost Corrupted Gate in Fainweald. However, you also have to defeat a major boss known as the Lost Child in order to get this key.
Once the Lost Child has been slain, enter the Child's Feeding Ground beacon. Just behind the cluster of Ova, you'll see a small room. Open the chest to receive your reward.
Location #4: Abandoned Outpost
You can purchase another Mortal Shell 2 Blackmarrow Key from The Collector in exchange for 1,500 Coins. The Collector is an NPC located near the Abandoned Outpost beacon in the Mammon region. However, similar to the Shrine of Sorrows, this entity only appears when Night Mode is active.
Location #5: Abbey Entrance
Another Blackmarrow Key can be found in the Sester's Abbey in the eastern part of the Mammon region. Here are some tips:
- In the Sester's Abbey, there's a large field with red spectres. Go up the steps that lead south-southeast, all while taking care of the Stalker and Sester Assassin enemies along the path.
- Eventually, you'll spot a lone tower with a trial obelisk nearby. The steps also lead you to one of Ruk's maps.
- That said, you don't want to go up the steps. Instead, just face the tower's entrance and check the left-hand side. There's actually a sloping path that leads further down to the lower section of the tower.
- At the end of the cliffside area, you'll see a small nook with a chest that contains the Blackmarrow Key.
How to use Blackmarrow Keys
Blackmarrow Keys are used in the Marrow Keep elevator chamber. Simply interact with any of the eight sarcophagi in the room. If you've already acquired that particular Shell, there should be a prompt that allows you to use the key to unlock a new skin. You might want to prioritise your favorite.
That does it for our guide on how to get all Blackmarrow Keys in Mortal Shell 2. I'll keep you posted in case I discover others, so stay tuned. As mentioned earlier, I've been told that it's not possible to unlock all skins in a single playthrough. That means going through New Game Plus if you want to try a different look for your chosen shells. In the meantime, head over to our Mortal Shell 2 walkthrough and boss list if you're still trying to make it past your first playthrough.
