See AllOne of Magic's best new Commanders has an utterly broken combo with this overpowered Final Fantasy card
But you can put the counters on a creature with Trample, which is the big difference there. Or a flyer.
yeah this is no cEDH combo but in a casual game where people play less removal, this could happen on turn 5 easily.
The emotional rollercoaster of retro gaming magazine collecting
Interesting read! As a kid I read Nintendo Power religiously. I even sent in one or two letters that got published. That was one of my favorite parts of it: reading what others submitted to the magazine. And I found some of my all-time favorite games that I probably never would’ve discovered otherwise, like Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and Super Paper Mario.
I was the same way, growing up in the rural Mid-Atlantic. I had almost no internet access till ~2010 or later. We only had the one Walmart till a GameStop opened around 2008 or so. Sometimes my dad would drive an hour to try and find the game I wanted at the nearest ToysRUs. Times were so different back then.
Xbox Game Pass price drop shows that subscribers have limits
So if a 50% increase brought them to $29.99, then it started at $19.99. All the people who didn’t cancel are rubes who overpaid for six months. All the people who re-subscribe still eat a 15% price hike.
Don’t make this out to be a victory for the users. They lose no matter which side they were on. And now the CEO gets to take a farcical victory lap and be praised by “journalists” for “slashing prices”.
10 of the most broken Magic cards ever printed
Hmmm I would remove Necropotence in exchange for Nadu, and otherwise would agree. Nadu was fundamentally broken AND unfun. And frankly it looks like he was mostly broken because of where they put the end-quote.
Don’t get me wrong, Necropotence is extremely powerful. But it doesn’t feel broken the way Nadu was broken.
Despite messy launch, Pokémon Champions fans are thrilled at major sleep and paralysis nerfs
Hmm. That honestly makes sleep useless at that point. Which is fine. But say you’re faster, you use Spore, the opponent is asleep for that turn. Then you I don’t know buff or something, they roll the 1 turn 50% of the time, you basically just used Protect there. I think making it a fixed two turns would’ve been better.
The change to Paralysis is good though. Para is more about the speed debuff than the lock imo, unless you’re playing paraflinch.
Pokémon Champions has already thrown a wrench in the competitive scene
Juan Federico for me it’s more about Choice Scarf. Otherwise a single Pokemon could just get to +1 speed on a random switch-in or missed attack (such as the Dragonite example) and sweeps you without any revenge options. But another commenter mentioned below that Choice Scarf IS in the game, in which case I think that’s the one that matters most. Band and Specs aren’t that critical but Scarf is sometimes the only way you could ever get back into the game if you fall behind.
