I found it interesting that the discussion here says that Archer's son (whose name is Matthew, by the way, not Michael) is the one who could end up as a school shooter when to me it felt like the film was saying Alex was the shooter. Alex is the one constantly bullied by his peers and he's the one who ultimately contributes the harm of his classmates by stealing their name tags, removing them from the classroom and turning them over to Gladys who wants to take their life force. Additionally, Archer's dream shows the gun in the air (a very heavy-handed image) over Alex's house, not Matthew's.
