I know it’s insignificant in the grand scheme

of things and no one can take it’s place off my GOTY list, but why isn’t anyone vocalizing support for Citizen Sleeper 2 in the Polygon Top 50. If the support for an Elden Ring retread was there, what happen to those folks who gave the prequel #2 slot in 202

Some of it is just for clicks I get, but why are all industry types thinking that the sales of games will drop because of GTA? Most gamers reading a site like polygon or who are invested in the industry will likely play GTA and then move on it’s the people that aren’t reading polygon that will increase the sales who weren’t gonna buy virtually anything else except for maybe resident evil or a sports game anyway

Citing awards as the barometer for success is nonsense when there is a single winner across each category. Death Stranding 2 did win GOTY for some online outlets though. With that said, I am fully aware that others use the winning of these awards as the measure FOR success, but it is mostly a popularity contest though and shouldn’t be mentioned, and for just The Game Awards. Plus, E33 had a lot of politically minded things that supported it…small team, not affiliated with layoffs, less than $70/on Game Pass, attractive characters, ran well at launch, etc.

Ghost and DS2 were 2 of the best games of the year.

Horrible take…being in a space, you’d think the outside world is sparse. The anomalies work and there is tension when you explore new territory 100% - the building sim aspect is entirely effective for the game. I don’t know exactly what you would have wanted. You build areas to further your mission and resource allocation…that’s the game.

Please UPVOTE this post if you want Polygon to revise their 2025 Top 50 to include Citizen Sleeper 2.

The fact that I play mostly on PS5, which would simultaneously bump Ghost of Yotei from the list entirely is just wild, especially given the nonsense game they have at 49. While I feel that both Ghost and Citizen Sleeper 2 are at worst Top 20 across the landscape of titles in 2025 (def Top 10 for me), they both need to be recognized. If a site like Polygon is not going to champion a title like Citizen Sleeper 2, especially after placing the first one at #2 GOTY behind Elden Ring in 2022, then something is fundamentally wrong with this site. The ads are also ridiculous now, worst than IGN.

If Nightreign can chart so high, why is Citizen Sleeper 2 MIA???
