Sonic Racing: Crossworlds’ roster is getting expanded again. Following Red’s inclusion into the series, another classic SEGA character is entering Crossworlds.
SEGA has announced a new content drop for the game, adding one of gaming’s most iconic characters to the roster while also rolling out a limited-time free weekend and an in-game event.
The upcoming “Captain Majima Content Drop” is set to launch on April 29 at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET, introducing Goro Majima as a fully playable racer. Known for his chaotic personality and unpredictable fighting style in the Yakuza series, Majima’s inclusion adds a crossover twist to Sonic’s racing universe.
Alongside the character, players will also gain access to his themed vehicle, the “Goromaru,” which appears designed to reflect his signature over-the-top style. SEGA has also confirmed additional cosmetic content, including special emotes and sound effects, giving fans more ways to express Majima’s unique personality during races.
Event Schedule And Free Weekend Details
In addition to the content drop, SEGA is also launching a themed in-game event titled the “Captain Majima Festival,” which will run from April 30 until May 3. The event is expected to feature limited-time challenges and rewards tied to the new character, encouraging players to engage with the update shortly after release.
To top it all off, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available to try for free during a dedicated free weekend. The trial period runs from April 30 to May 4, giving players a full week to experience the game completely free.
On top of that, SEGA is also offering a 40% discount on the full game as part of its Steam Golden Week promotion. The discount will be available until May 7, so if you enjoy the game during the free week, you can get it at a discount.
With a major crossover character, a themed event, and a free weekend all arriving at once, it’s the best time to jump in and try the game if you haven’t already.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
