New details for Forza Horizon 6 have surfaced ahead of launch, giving fans a deeper look at its gameplay systems, progression, and fresh features. Playground Games shared the information during a recent Discord Q&A, later reported by IGN and other outlets.
The QA covered a wide range of topics regarding FH6, including Touge Battles, progression, and multiplayer features.
Touge Battles Bring One-On-One Mountain Racing

You can build an open-world racing game in Japan, and not have some sort of Mountain Pass racing. It’s deeply rooted in the Japanese street scene, and it would be unfair not to have it in FH6. The game does have a mode like that called Touge Battles, and we now have a lot more information about it.
Touge Battles are a new race type inspired by Japan’s mountain-pass street-racing culture. These are one-on-one events that take place across five preset mountain routes on the game’s map.
In single-player, players will encounter specific rivals waiting at the start of each route, creating a more personal, challenge-based experience. There’s also an online championship mode that cycles through these routes, offering continuous head-to-head races against other players. You have the freedom to choose between a more casual and structured offline system, or compete over leaderboards with other players.
But more importantly, Touge battles are not tied to the main festival progression. This means players can jump into them freely without needing to grind through the core campaign first. You can get access to Touge Battles after unlocking Horizon Festival, which is about one hour of gameplay.
Progression And Festival Playlist See Major Changes
Beyond racing, Playground Games is also making notable changes to progression. The Festival Playlist is being introduced much earlier in the game compared to previous entries.
Instead of being endgame content, players can reportedly unlock it after roughly an hour of gameplay once they gain access to the Horizon Festival.
The reveal also touched on the new aftermarket car feature. Cars from the seasonal Festival Playlist will rotate into this system. You can then find these cars at various locations across the map. The locations are fixed, but the cars won’t be available every time. You can drive to these locations and purchase these cars to expand your collection.
There were also small changes mentioned in the QA.
- Forzathon Live is being renamed to “Stunt Party.”
- The Eliminator mode now starts players in a 1984 Honda City
- Legend Island serves as a high-level area with exclusive events and the Goliath race
As Forza Horizon 6 inches closer to release, we are getting more information about what this entry will bring to the franchise. Playground Games has portrayed FH6 as the biggest Forza game ever, and looking at the early details, that might be true.
