Abraham (Abie) Troen

Abraham (Abie) Troen is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. He has lensed, produced, and or directed film projects across Israel, Kenya, India, the United States, and Canada, with work for Netflix, BBC, ARTE, Vanity Fair, and more. His work has been screened at Tribeca, DOC NYC, and the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, and supported by the Sundance Institute, the International Documentary Association, Bertha, Doc Society, Jewish Story Partners, and more. His films include Just Sing, Finding Home, and ’Til Kingdom Come. Troen was recently selected as one of the 2026 Filmmakers in Residence for the Jewish Film Institute.
He is currently directing his second feature-length documentary film, Family Pictures. When murder claims filmmaker Troen’s sister, brother-in-law, and great-grandmother a century apart, his family’s past and present collide, forcing each generation to decide how to carry forward a legacy of dignity, peace, and justice.

- Just Sing: On the cusp of graduation, the members of USC’s celebrated SoCal VoCals have one more challenge to conquer before adulthood: The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in New York City. Just Sing premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
- Til Kingdom Come: A New York Times review of the documentary film exploring the political and philanthropic alliance between American evangelical Christians and Israeli Jews.
- Finding Home: A documentary short following Brandon, a Shanghainese lawyer who leaves China due to his sexual orientation and navigates a new life as a gay immigrant in Los Angeles.
