The 19-year-old reportedly crashed a rare Mercedes-AMG company car near his home in Italy just days before pre-season testing began. The incident left the high-performance Mercedes with heavy damage, but Antonelli was able to walk away unharmed. The car involved was a Mercedes-AMG model built for extreme performance, featuring the engineering and technology that have made AMG one of the most respected names in modern performance cars. Antonelli was already one of motorsport’s most talked-about young talents. After years of success in junior racing categories, he stepped into Formula 1 as one of the sport’s most promising newcomers. While seeing a rare AMG damaged is painful for enthusiasts, the important part was that the young driver was safe. Even professional drivers face unexpected moments when they are away from the racetrack. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart has claimed overall victory at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2026 — one of Asia's most demanding motorsport events — driving the Mitsubishi Triton. Katsuhiko Taguchi and co-driver Takahiro Yasui completed the gruelling rally in 12 hours, 58 minutes and 20 seconds, securing Team Mitsubishi Ralliart's second consecutive AXCR title and marking the first-ever overall win by an all-Japanese driver and co-driver pairing in the event's history. Held in Thailand from August 9 to 15, the rally covered 2,145.19 kilometres, including 921.80 kilometres of competitive Special Stages. The route tested every competitor with water-filled tracks, rocky climbs, dense forests, deep mud, river crossings and high-speed plantation roads — all under intense heat and humidity. Throughout these unforgiving conditions, the Triton demonstrated exceptional durability, handling and all-terrain capability. Taguchi moved into the overall lead after setting the fastest time on Leg 3, and together with Yasui, maintained a disciplined, consistent performance to claim victory by a narrow margin of 2 minutes and 25 seconds. While the rally-winning Triton is a specially modified T1 competition vehicle, the production Triton shares its core engineering foundation and unmistakable rally DNA — including robust suspension engineering, dependable braking, responsive engine performance and confident handling developed for the most demanding terrain. This combination of strength, control and reliability makes the Mitsubishi Triton (L200) double cab ideally suited to Sri Lanka's varied driving conditions — from city roads and highways to plantations, construction sites and challenging off-road environments. Mitsubishi Motors has long used the lessons learned under extreme motorsport conditions to enhance the performance, safety, durability and driver confidence of its production vehicles. The FIA is in the process of overseeing a series of safety tests in preparation for the planned introduction of hydrogen-powered Hypercars into the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2030. During the ACO’s press conference at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, the broad brushstrokes of proposed hydrogen regulations were revealed including details of how these cars would be balanced with the more conventional hybrid Hypercars. The FIA has also previously revealed details of how hydrogen’s adoption into various levels of motorsport could work, but now the finer details are being determined.

Car Throttle just ranked the greatest factory alloy wheels ever fitted to production cars and the list is genuinely hard to argue with. Alfa Romeo Teledials, Porsche Fuchs, Golf GTI P-Slots just to name a few. Designs so tied to their cars' identities that changing the wheels effectively changes the car. The Porsche Fuchs debuted in 1967, the Alfa Teledial in the '70s, and the GTI P-Slot in the '80s and no wheel designed in the last 20 years made the cut, which tells you everything about what the industry traded away when it went from designing wheels to rendering them.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team has been using ‘EVie’ to move cargo around European races – with F1 tech driving the electric truck. The all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is pulling the team's Race Trailer Three across all nine European races this season: ⚡ F1-Inspired tech: Similar to the energy recovery systems in F1 power units, the eActros 600 captures energy during braking—putting up to 600 kW back into the batteries at peak regen. This recovery accounts for roughly 25% of the truck's total power consumption. 🔋 Serious range: Weighing in at a massive 39-tonne gross combination weight, the truck is delivering an average efficiency of 1.04–1.08 kWh/km. That grants a single-charge range of up to 576 km from its 600kWh battery. ⏱️ Zero downtime: Charging fits smoothly into mandatory driver break windows, meaning no time is lost on long-haul routes. 🛣️ Clocking up the miles: Mercedes expects to cover over 15,000km before the European season wraps up in Madrid.  “In some instances, the electric truck has actually beaten the diesel truck back to base.
