We've been toying with the idea of formalizing Media Party as a global organization for some time now, one that generates a continuous impact on the media and tech ecosystem. The creation of the advisory board is one incredible step to find a sustainable model and ensure Media Party's longevity. We enlisted the help of Aron Pilhofer who has consistently collaborated with Media Party since 2012 and has shown unwavering, generous, and selfless support. Aron express also our vision in the press release: “Media Party is a rare, truly global force at the intersection of journalism and technology—pushing the field forward in ways no one else is. I’m honored to be part of its Advisory Board and help shape what comes next”. For us, it's a true privilege, and we will work tirelessly to make this rare organization the global laboratory for innovation, sustainability, and the creation of credible news ecosystems. In a few days, we'll be holding the first edition in Barcelona, and as soon as it's over, we'll be focusing all our attention on Buenos Aires, which is coming with new developments. This is another crucial step in leveraging the network that has allowed Media Party to grow, with the goal of becoming a launching pad for new initiatives while growing alongside each project that takes off. Many thanks to the advisors who are joining us to contribute to this growth. Pure luxury. Pure joy to have them all. Also, is a great moment to feature the silent work that the core team has been doing Mariana Berruezo Gino Cingolani Carola Fernández Moores Maca Lara Dillon and Nico Russo and the incredible network of supporters, volunteers and brand lovers.

What does journalism need now? How do journalists keep their focus on stories that matter as AI, algorithms and influencers reshape how news is produced, shared and consumed? The Asia Journalism Fellowship (AJF) 2026 Public Engagement Forum, hosted at WKWSCI, in partnership with Temasek Foundation and the Institute of Policy Studies, National University of Singapore, brings together journalists, editors, fact-checkers, researchers and students from across Asia to examine the changing practice of journalism and the choices journalists face in a fast-moving media landscape. The forum will feature a keynote by AJF alumna Natashya Gutierrez, award-winning journalist, independent news creator and former President of Rappler. This year's AJF Fellows will also take part in a panel discussion and breakout sessions where they will meet with more than 60 aspiring journalists from local institutions. Through conversations spanning AI, misinformation, social media, audience trust and newsroom change, the forum asks what it takes for journalism to remain credible, responsible and relevant. We look forward to welcoming the 2026 AJF Fellows, speakers and participants to WKWSCI for an afternoon of regional perspectives and exchange. #WKWSCI #AsiaJournalismFellowship #AJF2026 #Journalism #AI #Media

Couldn’t be a prouder moment. I’m honoured to be representing the prestigious Asia Journalism Fellowship (AJF) 2026 cohort on this panel of experts discussing AI, fact-checking, news verification and the future of ‘what is news’. The way we gather, verify, produce, and disseminate information has changed dramatically in the last decade. And as technology continues to reshape journalism, conversations around trust, accuracy and accountability have never been more important. A big shoutout to everyone who has been part of my journey, and who has shaped the way I think about news and journalism. Thank you to Temasek Foundation and IPS for this opportunity.

Creator Economy in Journalism: With increased use of technology and access to audiences across time zones and geographies, journalists have now entered the creator economy. Journalists who are independent creators now use platforms like Youtube, TikTok, Instagram to connect regularly with their audiences. These journalists often become part of a community, which helps them connect more with the people. They develop specialty in certain fields like geopolitics, sports, popular culture etc. They have to be agile, with strong mastery over their field and technology available to them. But the disadvantage is that they often do not have support of a large organization, which being part of a traditional newsroom would give them. These are exciting times for journalism. One year ago, Abby Rapoport stepped into her role as MIF’s Executive Director at a particularly challenging moment for public-interest media. Taking advice from an old friend, she started by listening. More than 100 conversations with funders and partners helped shape MIF’s direction over the past year, including four thematic pillars that now guide our programming and resources. Those conversations also informed efforts to bring funders across journalism, documentary and technology together at the Media Impact Forum, expand member resources through our Resource Library, develop a media grantmaking curriculum, launch new Learning Initiatives and build new opportunities for funders to connect and collaborate. In her one-year reflection, Abby shares what she heard from the field, how we’re responding and why she sees significant opportunities for funders to work across silos and build a stronger media ecosystem.
