Hosted MCP Servers (mcp_api) — any additional cost or API metering on Unlimited Edition?
Hi all,
I'm evaluating the new Hosted MCP Servers so our RevOps team can query org data from an MCP client (Claude) instead of running manual exports or standing up a custom integration.
Our situation:
• Salesforce Unlimited Edition
• Testing first in a Full Copy Sandbox, production later
• Starting with platform/sobject-reads (read-only), possibly platform/headless-360 (Beta) afterwards
• Auth via an External Client App with the mcp_api and refresh_token scopes
What I've already read: the Hosted MCP Servers docs — Set Up Your Org, Create an External Client App, Activate MCP Servers, Standard Servers Reference, and the Headless 360 (Beta) page. They cover setup and the security model very well, but I can't find anything on commercial terms.
My questions:
1. Is Hosted MCP Servers included in the platform at no extra cost on Unlimited Edition, or is it a separately licensed SKU / add-on?
2. Do MCP tool calls (Discover / Describe / Dispatch, or the SObject server tools) count against our daily API request limit the same way REST and Bulk API calls do? Or is there separate metering I should be watching?
3. Headless 360 is currently Beta. Does it carry different commercial terms once it reaches GA, and is there anything I should plan for now to avoid a surprise later?
4. Is consumption treated differently in a sandbox versus production?
If anyone has already switched this on in a production org, I'd really value hearing what your AE told you — especially if the answer differed from what the docs imply.
I'll summarise whatever I learn back into this thread so the next admin doesn't have to ask.
Thanks!

Just used it to add some Google MCPs to OS! Amazing
