🔊 Introducing Writeback x Spreadsheet in ThoughtSpot. The feature is the small part. Here's the bigger idea.. Our category has spent a decade optimizing the other half of the problem. We made data effortless to read, dashboards, natural-language search, AI copilots, all of it pointed at helping people see what happened. But seeing was never the goal. Deciding was! We've been shipping better and better answers to a question the business stopped asking. The question was never "what happened." It's "what do we do, and can we act on it right here." That's the bet behind writeback. An analyst works on live, governed data in a spreadsheet, and writes the decision, an adjustment, a target, a re-forecast, straight back to the warehouse. The analysis and the action finally live in the same place. No export, no shadow file, no broken lineage. I watched it land last month. A finance analyst pulled up a live model, found where the plan was breaking, and instead of exporting to Excel, wrote the adjustments and a revised forecast straight back to the warehouse. The re-forecast rebuilt in front of the room. From problem to committed plan in one session, on governed data. It reads like a feature. I think it's a shift in what analytics is for. From a system of record you look at, to a system of decision you act in, with governance intact the whole way. We're early, and there's real road ahead. But this is the direction I'm most convinced about, and the team that built it is exceptional. Thanks to Ruchita Bavishi Pratheek KB Pranov Kumar Abhijit Das Umesh Indoriya for building this! As rightly mentioned, this feature would change analytics to a system of decision one act upon The humongous efforts put in by the team in a short span of time was tremendous to watch Kudos to everyone!!
Moving from passive dashboards and ai queries to direct action makes total sense for modern analytics workflows.
