Unpacking congregational dynamics

The word congregation usually refers to a group of people who come together for religious worship. However, congregations are also social vehicles whereby people find community, exercise the civic duties like community service, for instance, and establish both collective and individual identity. Little-known fact, the word congregation appears in the Bible over 350 times as a reference to a group of people, later described as the church in the New Testament, in which Apostle Paul wrote letters to many congregations about what it means to be a part of the community. Now, these letters, which expressed the teachings of Jesus Christ, established an understanding of the shared beliefs of the collective, the meaning of particular artifacts, the expected behaviors of congregation members, and the acceptable use of language in their daily lives.
