Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Oakland, CA

100% remote, but there may be a few times requested to come into office if possible (e.g. adhoc workshop).

Duration: 9 Months W2 Contract


TOP THINGS:

o familiarity with MS Word and visio.

o Experience in writing standards and/or procedures.

o Ability to take notes/process and turn into logical steps or requirements in the company format/template.


Job Description:

Technical Writer develops and maintains manuals, standards, procedures, and bulletins that enable to maintain compliance with all external and internal requirements, and ensure public and employee safety. Collaborates with, and gathers information from, internal and external clients to develop guidance documents, in an orderly, concise manner, which are typographically, grammatically, and technically correct.


Take complex technical information and make it clear and easy-to-understand for a non-technical audience. Produces Manuals and Guides, including Standards, Guidelines, Procedure, Process Maps MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience Flowcharts and organization charts development (iGrafx Preferred, Visio is acceptable) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired High standards for writing, detail, editing, and information design that lead to accurate, concise, usable, highly-polished content User-focused approach to documentation planning, design, and content strategy


Qualifications:

Education Minimum - BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or related field; or equivalent work experience


Minimum 3 to 5 years of Technical Writing, content management, process improvement, in the development of a wide range of IT documentation deliverables Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiar with policies and procedures with regard to information technology, and Company Guidance Document Management (GDM) standards Fully competent in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint Proficient in documentation technologies and processes Good verbal communication skills to collaborate with peers, content owners and collect necessary information for documents Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good multi-tasking, adaptability and organizational skills
