Role Objective: As a Human Development Specialist, you'll provide strategic and tactical support across all functional areas of Human Development—partnering with Plant Leadership to strengthen employee relations, drive compliance, and build a pipeline of future HD talent. This is a development role that will expose you to recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, labor relations, training, and compliance, giving you hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle.
What will your day look like?
Develop and implement policies to ensure consistent, fair treatment for all employees.
Coordinate initiatives to encourage employee feedback and engagement.
Facilitate company events and represent Metalsa in community-wide initiatives.
Engage in problem-solving activities to improve Human Development processes.
Train management and provide support interpreting the Team Book.
Investigate and resolve employee issues.
Support recruitment through sourcing, screening, interviewing, and placement.
Assist with conflict resolution, policy administration, employee engagement, and corrective action.
Support benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, FMLA, and employee programs.
Maintain regulatory compliance, manage personnel files, and support audit readiness.
Conduct new hire orientation and manage onboarding documentation.
Participate in or lead corrective action meetings; ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably; support grievance responses.
Validate time and attendance data, identify and reconcile exceptions, and ensure accuracy before payroll processing.
Lead initiatives to reduce payroll errors, improve turnaround time, and enhance process efficiency.
Coordinate with Operations, Finance, and Payroll teams on compliance and accuracy.
Assist with hiring processes for all levels of personnel, including advertising, job fairs, interviewing, pre-employment screening, reference checks, I-9 verification, orientation, exit interviews, and unemployment correspondence.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed—this role evolves as the needs of the department change.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Marketing, Organizational Development, or a related field (required).
1-3 years of HR experience in a manufacturing setting (required).
HRIS platform experience (required).
FMLA and medical leave administration experience (required).
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws (required).
Benefits and payroll knowledge (required).
PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred).
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Oracle HRIS experience.
ADP Vantage experience.
KRONOS Dimensions experience.
Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Willing to facilitate meetings and present training to small and large groups.
Willing to deal with and resolve conflict effectively.
Understanding of state and government regulations and laws.
Understanding of EEO and Affirmative Action Programs, HIPAA, FLSA, NLRB, and DOL standards.
Physical Requirements:
