Engineering Manager


Position Purpose

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Javelin's engineering capabilities supporting flushing, passivation, temporary mechanical systems, water treatment, water reuse, and mission critical cooling infrastructure.

This position serves as the technical leader for hydraulic analysis, equipment selection, temporary system design, engineering standards, and technical support for project execution.

The Engineering Manager is accountable for ensuring engineering decisions are technically sound, operationally practical, commercially appropriate, and aligned with Javelin's commitment to safe, efficient, and predictable project delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Develop and maintain Javelin engineering standards, procedures, calculations, templates, and best practices.
  • Establish consistent engineering methodologies across all projects.
  • Support the development of engineering personnel and technical capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for engineering-related decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools.


Hydraulic Modeling & Analysis

  • Develop hydraulic models for project planning, estimating, and execution.
  • Perform flow, velocity, pressure drop, and pump head calculations.
  • Evaluate system hydraulics and identify operational constraints.
  • Develop flushing strategies to achieve required system velocities and cleanliness standards.
  • Support temporary cooling, circulation, and water management system design.
  • Verify engineering assumptions used in project planning and execution.


Equipment Selection & Temporary System Design

  • Establish equipment requirements for project execution.
  • Size and select pumps, filtration systems, storage tanks, hoses, manifolds, and supporting equipment.
  • Develop temporary system layouts and operational concepts.
  • Support fleet development and standardization initiatives.
  • Evaluate new equipment technologies and applications.


Project Support

  • Provide engineering support during estimating and proposal development.
  • Review project specifications and technical requirements.
  • Support project teams with technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Participate in project planning and execution strategy development.
  • Assist with development of project-specific procedures and execution plans.
  • Support client meetings involving technical scope, engineering methodology, and project execution.


Technical Standards & Quality

  • Maintain engineering calculation templates and documentation standards.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, complete, and consistent.
  • Develop quality control procedures for engineering work products.
  • Support lessons learned reviews and incorporation of improvements into engineering standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation supporting Javelin operations.


Innovation & Development

  • Lead development of proprietary engineering tools, methodologies, and workflows.
  • Support implementation of hydraulic modeling and engineering software platforms.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve project execution through engineering innovation.
  • Support development of Javelin's technical differentiators and intellectual property.


Decision-Making Authority

The Engineering Manager is authorized to:

  • Establish engineering standards and calculation methodologies.
  • Approve engineering assumptions used for project execution.
  • Recommend equipment selections and engineering solutions.
  • Develop and maintain engineering procedures and technical workflows.
  • Direct engineering resources assigned to projects.

Major capital expenditures, staffing decisions, and significant deviations from approved project execution strategies shall be coordinated with the Director of Operations and President.
