BSA/AML Compliance Manager
General Summary
Within the US Compliance unit of a large global bank, the BSA/AML Compliance Manager will be responsible for supporting the Bank's BSA/AML Program and ensuring compliance with all applicable BSA/AML and OFAC regulations across business areas. The role will primarily focus on Transaction Monitoring investigations, Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) drafting, and the execution of key AML controls, while also supporting the operational management of Transaction Monitoring activities.
The successful candidate will possess strong investigative and analytical skills, coupled with exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that Transaction Monitoring activities, manual controls, reporting obligations, and case management processes are executed accurately and within established deadlines.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Transaction Monitoring & Investigation
- Review automated Transaction Monitoring alerts and conduct end-to-end investigations of potentially suspicious activity.
- Analyze customer transactional activity, customer profiles, and supporting documentation to identify unusual or suspicious behavior.
- Ensure investigations are completed in accordance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and established service level agreements (SLAs).
- Document investigative findings clearly and comprehensively within case management systems.
SAR Management
- Draft high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and maintain supporting documentation for filing decisions.
- Participate in quality control reviews and support the SAR filing process to ensure regulatory compliance and consistency.
AML Controls & Operational Oversight
- Execute and oversee manual AML controls and monitoring activities designed to support the effectiveness of the Transaction Monitoring Program.
- Monitor alert inventories, case volumes, and workflow queues to help ensure timely completion of reviews and investigations.
- Support alert assignment and workload distribution activities across the Transaction Monitoring team.
Reporting & Management Information
- Prepare recurring management reports, metrics, and dashboards related to Transaction Monitoring performance and case management activities.
- Develop presentations and reporting materials for Compliance leadership, governance committees, and internal stakeholders.
- Track action items, key deliverables, and operational performance indicators.
- Coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs), follow-ups, and action item tracking resulting from governance meetings and operational reviews.
Regulatory & Audit Support
- Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and independent reviews by gathering documentation and preparing responses.
- Assist in the remediation and tracking of findings, recommendations, and action plans.
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of AML procedures and process documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Graduate Degree in Law, Business, Finance, or related fields is highly desirable.
- 5–7 years of experience in BSA/AML Compliance, with significant experience in Transaction Monitoring investigations and SAR drafting.
- Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, USA PATRIOT Act requirements, OFAC sanctions compliance, KYC, and Transaction Monitoring frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex investigations and analyzing potentially suspicious activity.
- Experience executing AML operational controls, reconciliations, and quality assurance activities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands simultaneously.
- Experience preparing management reporting, metrics, and presentations for senior management.
- Experience conducting company searches and utilizing research tools such as LexisNexis, World-Check, and other investigative databases.
- Experience with Transaction Monitoring and case management systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience working with large datasets is highly desirable.
- CAMS certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of hire.
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of LATAM and Spain regions is highly desirable.
- Broker/Dealer experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment on sensitive and complex matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with senior management.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $145,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
