There’s a reason people who go into battle talk about the person fighting beside them. The mission matters, but so do the people you trust when it matters most. Today, some of the most consequential battles are cyber ones. And behind them are people most of the world will never see. People working to keep organizations secure, resilient and operational, often solving problems before the rest of us even know they exist. This week, we put the cyber battles aside for a few hours to celebrate Marc’s birthday. 🎂 Looking around this table reminded me how much I believe in this team, our mission and what we’re building together. We may still be one of cybersecurity’s best-kept secrets: IGEL Technology. But judging by the momentum we’re building, not for much longer. 😉 And looking at these pictures, I realized that besides determination and a shared mission, most of us have something else in common… Can you figure out what it is? AI has democratised content creation, but just because you can create more content doesn’t mean you should. Ironically, the rise of AI slop has made great storytelling more valuable. Taste. Judgement. A distinct point of view. The ability to find a great story and tell it in a way that makes people care. These are the things AI still struggles to recreate. Which is why I love the rise of the “corporate storyteller”. IMO, the best rebrand of the year. More companies are hiring storytellers and rebranding their comms and content teams to reflect what the job increasingly involves: finding and influencing the story wherever it happens, whether that’s earned media, video, creators, newsletters, social or an executive’s own platform. The lines between PR, social and content are increasingly blurred. My own title and remit spans communications and content for exactly this reason. As AI makes content easier to create, the people who know what’s actually worth saying become more valuable. Here’s to the rise of the corporate storyteller.
