Over the past several days, our incident response team has responded to multiple attacks by Chatty Scorpius (aka Silent Ransom Group, Luna Moth, Chatty Spider, UNC3753). Attackers use voice phishing (vishing) impersonating internal IT support to trick employees into launching remote-management sessions. They quickly pivot to document repositories to exfiltrate sensitive legal agreements, personal data, and financial records. Law firms are prime targets because public attorney directories make social engineering easy for attackers. Quick considerations to keep your firm safe: 1) Alert your employees to be the lookout for this active threat 2) Restrict and block use of unauthorized remote-access tools 3) Use endpoint security, network controls or a secure enterprise browser to prevent access to malicious URLs and block anomalous bulk file transfers to personal cloud storage. Danny Milrad reposted thisDanny Milrad reposted thisThrough our partnership with OpenAI, today we expanded Unit 42 Frontier AI Exposure Analysis to put advanced frontier cyber models like GPT-5.6 Daybreak to work for defenders (until now, GPT-5.6 Daybreak has not been available for commercial use). Since introducing Frontier AI Defense in May, we’ve briefed over 1,000 security teams and brought this service to hundreds of clients. The results show why this work is so important: 36% of the exposures we identified map to no known CVE. Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 uses leading AI models to find exposures in our customers’ environments, test whether they are exploitable, validate attack paths and help prioritize what to fix first. There is no single best model for every cyber task, which is why we built a multi-model harness. Danny Milrad reacted on thisDanny Milrad reacted on thisAs a young officer in the military, I don't know that I could have envisioned how directly the concepts I learned then about warfare doctrine, standardization, and team performance under stress would apply to defending organizations in the age of frontier AI. That connection was on full display this week at the United States Department of the Air Force IT Conference (DAFITC), where I had the honor of keynoting and hearing several remarkable keynotes myself. Lieutenant General Paul Stanton, the DISA director, gave one worth sharing here. His themes speak directly to what defending any organization, inside or outside the military, actually requires right now. Networks are weapon systems. That reframe from General Stanton's keynote is the shift we can all focus on as we prioritize cybersecurity investment right now. His argument was rigorous: In warfare, we don't defer maintenance on aircraft or tanks past a mission's window; we conduct it the moment the operational demand allows. We train and certify our forces to operate weapon systems under stress. We hold them accountable when systems fail. But organizations often treat networks differently. They defer maintenance behind quarterly reviews. They rely on point-in-time certifications rather than continuous qualification. In the age of frontier AI-equipped attackers, that gap becomes untenable. Three themes from his keynote are important to share: First, the blitzkrieg analogy. The Germans didn't invent the aircraft, the tank, or the machine gun. They combined the three and fundamentally changed warfare. General Stanton's parallel: large language models, frontier AI, and agentic capabilities are the three technologies being combined right now. Defenders treating them as separate initiatives will run behind the ones treating them as an integrated capability set. Second, standardization enables agentic security. In enterprise terms, that means centralized visibility and consolidated tooling. As DISA modernizes with agentic capabilities for configuration changes, standardization becomes the mechanism that keeps automated actions from severing connectivity to war fighting troops three hops down the path. Every enterprise deploying agentic AI needs standardized architecture to operate safely at pace. Third, cybersecurity is the ultimate team sport. Uniform service members, government civilians, and industry teammates working together. He emphasized that industry partners are teammates, not contractors, and that the technical depth to understand rapid change often comes from that partnership. This is the frame we're building against at Palo Alto Networks. Frontier AI defense that operates at machine speed. Integrated platforms that make agentic action governable. Deep partnership with the mission teams operating the systems. The warfighter discipline General Stanton articulated is the operational discipline enterprise defenders need to build right now.

When I was building Camino I always knew that microlearning -- Quick Bites -- would be a piece of the product, but it's been interesting to witness how what I thought initially was a nice-to-have option has quickly become the most compelling part of the product that learners, educators, and creators are engaging with--by far--the most.

After working with some of the biggest brands in tech and AI for the last few years, I'm so excited to lean squarely into cybersecurity. It's hard to imagine a more interesting moment for this move. AI is on both sides of the fight, with attackers moving at machine speed and defenders racing to match it, and Unit 42 is doing the critical research to help organizations understand what's actually happening. As someone who started as a journalist devouring data and research, I can't wait to help surface this kind of work and help shepherd the most interesting and consequential AI x cybersecurity stories to light.
