Eric LeVine shared thisThoughtful and thought-provoking article by Eric Asimov (who sadly I did not see this year at an annual Bordeaux tasting in Atlanta 2 weekends ago, since I could not make the trip.) These two quotes from the same Sommelier (Claudia Rosellini) were great! "But if it boosts confidence of somebody that doesn’t know about wine, I think that’s great. [...] People making the conscious effort with A.I., it means they’re curious, and that makes me happy,” she said. For people who are knowledgeable and passionate about wine, it is easy to forget what an intimidating topic it can be. All of the endless nuance and subjectivity that makes wine so much fun for a wine geek makes it that much more scary for someone earlier on their wine journey. The two words that resonate for me here are CURIOSITY and CONFIDENCE. For 23 years with CellarTracker I have been focused on using technology to create a CURIOUS and wine passionate community (1.1 million members) and 10 million annual visitors. I firmly believe that the wisdom of the community can be used in highly personalized ways to help many more people gain CONFIDENCE in their taste and exploration. We have been working quite a bit on prototypes and tools to help people quickly make decisions on a restaurant wine list, ultimately either in concert with a Sommelier or alone on their phone if a Somm isn't available. The honest answer: when someone writes in about a bottle they've been saving for 20 years for a special occasion, that moment deserves a real response from a real person. When people worry about their account or their data they should know we take NOTHING more seriously. We use AI across our platform and it makes us better. But trust is built in the small moments — and I'm not ready to hand those off. Eric LeVine shared thisMy team has just launched a CellarChat feature for CellarTracker in our new app. The technology is very young and evolving very quickly. But AI, especially working with a 22+ year old proprietary data set, has amazing potential. A few nights ago I spent a few minutes perusing my cellar the old-fashioned way (looking for something from Saumur since the Tour de France Femmes was starting in Saumur the next day) and decided to pull out my phone for some advice. Wow!

After attending the first annual JFS Luncheon in 2003, I was invited to be a member of the board. I have since helped the agency with technology, fundraising, board development, nominating, financial/investment management, and government advocacy. I have also served on the Executive Committee since 2007 and have played a variety of…JFS of Greater Seattle is an amazing social service agency that has been helping Jews and members of the broader Seattle and refugee community for 120 years.

I have since helped the agency with technology, fundraising, board development, nominating, financial/investment management, and government advocacy. I have also served on the Executive Committee since 2007 and have played a variety of roles with the agency, most recently as Treasurer.

I served as a member of Governor Inslee's Career Connect Washington task force from June 2017 until February 2018. As a part of this task force, my wife, Suzi, and I co-organized a study trip to Switzerland with Governor Inslee and 45 other leaders from business, government, academia, and philanthropy to learn about the Swiss model of apprenticeship.
Since that time, as Career Connect Washington has continued, I have served as a member of the "kitchen cabinet," the Business Leadership &…I served as a member of Governor Inslee's Career Connect Washington task force from June 2017 until February 2018. As a part of this task force, my wife, Suzi, and I co-organized a study trip to Switzerland with Governor Inslee and 45 other leaders from business, government, academia, and philanthropy to learn about the Swiss model of apprenticeship.
Since that time, as Career Connect Washington has continued, I have served as a member of the "kitchen cabinet," the Business Leadership & Philanthropy Committee, the Cross Agency Workgroup and most recently as a Special Adviser on technology as we build out a statewide directory of career connected learning opportunities.

Most founders I see rush into AI voice callers without ever looking at TCPA compliance. The automation wave is real. You can spin up a solution over a weekend. But the legal landmines are just as real — FTC rules, consent requirements, state-level restrictions that vary wildly. I've watched this space closely. The pattern is consistent: founders are so focused on scaling outbound that they skip the basics. And the cost of skipping them is too high. Slow down before you automate this one.
