Bringing outside labor into a high-precision automotive plant usually comes with a hidden tax: spending valuable supervisor time teaching basic factory etiquette before an operator even touches a part. With Veryable, ADAC experienced a completely different reality. Because Veryable operators arrived with prior manufacturing experience, there was zero time wasted teaching general plant expectations. Supervisors were able to skip basic orientation and focus immediately on role-specific execution and safety protocols. The result? Immediate reinforcement for the core team on day one, zero burn on supervisor time, and parts moving out the door right on schedule. • When throughput is constrained, manufacturers' first instinct is often to look for more of whatever appears scarce. More welders. More machinists. More technicians. But that response only makes sense after you've proven specialist capacity is actually the constraint. When the people already in those roles are spending large portions of their shifts on setup, material movement, waiting, and other work that doesn't require their expertise, another hire doesn't fix the problem. It just scales the inefficiency. That's why your first move shouldn't be recruiting. It should be measuring: How much of your specialists' time is actually spent on the work only they can do? Because the fastest path to more capacity isn't always another hire. It's recovering what you already have on your floor. Running a high-volume commercial print operation with a fixed labor model locks you into a constant defensive posture. The moment page counts suddenly spike or a call-out hits right before shift change, you face a lose-lose choice: burn out your best with overtime, or fall behind and risk missed ship dates. Community Impact Printing refused to pick the lesser of two evils. Instead of sizing headcount for peak volume or relying on band-aids, they built a flexible labor pool through Veryable and empowered supervisors to manage it directly. Supervisors check daily page counts, identify gaps, and pull in familiar operators strictly for the shifts they need them. The result? ☑️ Press uptime protected ☑️ Unplanned overtime contained ☑️ Jobs hit the dock on schedule Read the full case study: https://lnkd.in/g6vrvVka #commercialprinting #manufacturing #operations #workforceinnovation

⚠️ Locking in Q4 headcount commitments based on demand forecasts is a lose-lose proposition. If you size to peak volume, you'll send your cost per unit through the roof paying people to sweep aisles and restack pallets on the lighter days. And if you size to average volume, the busy days will run you over. Staging lanes back up to the dock doors, missed pull times wreck your SLAs, and you run your team into the ground with mandatory 60-hour weeks. The fix isn't better forecasting, it's adopting a labor strategy that doesn't depend on perfect forecasts. • Launching a new product category with zero order history is an operational trap. Fixed labor models force a lose-lose choice: hire before demand is proven and risk carrying idle payroll if sales stall, or run lean and get crushed the moment orders spike. ShineOn took a different approach for their new acrylic rollout. Instead of taking on fixed labor costs for an unproven market, they kept their core team lean and built a flexible labor pool with Veryable. When daily order volume spikes, they tap into that pool to add immediate floor capacity, keeping throughput on track to meet their 3-to-5 day shipping window. The result? Shipping promises are protected, volume surges are absorbed cleanly, and labor spend moves in lockstep with actual daily demand. 💡 Read the full case study to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gdB5xhYf #operations #fulfillment #manufacturing #ecommerce #flexiblelabor

🔥 Episode 70 is Live! In this latest episode, brought to you by Veryable, Matt Horine goes solo to challenge the common claim that American manufacturers are facing a labor shortage. He argues that the deeper issue is a shortage of incentives, reward, and ownership in tackling productivity. Inside the episode: ✅ What decades of stagnant real wages suggest about broad labor scarcity ✅ Why skilled trades are showing a different wage response ✅ How downward payroll revisions complicate the labor shortage narrative ✅ How planning to averages leaves plants short during spikes and overstaffed during dips ✅ How flexible labor capacity and output-based pay create a more responsive operating model 🎧 Listen now: 👉 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gyzWjSfk 👉 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/gK97NaKC 👉 YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gFiB2dzv 👉 Website: https://lnkd.in/gZmXebru #manufacturing #productivity #reindustrialization #workforceinnovation

Your best people appreciate the chance to make extra money during the holidays. The problem starts when optional overtime turns into 20+ mandatory extra hours week after week. At that point, you aren't just burning out your people. Quality slips, shipments lag, and your reputation takes the hit. ShineOn was in this exact boat, spending $350k+ on Q4 overtime just to survive peak season volume spikes. So they changed their approach and integrated Veryable to flex floor capacity in line with daily workload. On-demand labor absorbed the surges, allowing FTEs to keep a predictable schedule. The result? Q4 overtime costs crashed by 90%. FTEs stayed rested and productive. And they maintained the exact quality and service their customers expect. 🚨 Realizing at 7 AM that 1st shift is short-handed is a plant manager's worst nightmare. Without a way to backfill those gaps fast, you're left with costly trade-offs: run lines under-manned, force overtime and risk errors, or miss OEM shipping windows. ADAC built a way out of that corner. By building a flexible capacity layer around its core workforce with Veryable, ADAC can reinforce 2nd and 3rd shifts on a same-day basis, filling gaps with as little as 3 to 4 hours of lead time. The result? Production stays on schedule, OEM shipping windows are protected, and the core team stays insulated from burnout.
