In August, we shipped new Collections Agent features to help finance teams get paid faster with less manual work. Tokenization and usage-based pricing have been all the rage. But behind closed doors, CFOs are asking a much harder question: How do we actually pass these costs on to customers? It’s become a kind of poker game. Every company is trying to understand what AI usage really costs, how much of that cost they can pass through, and how to protect margins along the way. And you won’t find many playbooks online. Nobody wants to show their cards. The bigger issue is that most companies don’t have the infrastructure to do it. Their billing and revenue systems weren’t built to meter complex usage, translate it into customer pricing, and reconcile it back to revenue and margin. The result: companies absorb costs they should be passing through, resulting in margin compression or even losing money as usage scales. But leading AI companies like Cursor and Rogo are already using Tabs to solve this. And it goes well beyond token management. Tabs is building the billing, revenue, and token infrastructure for the usage-based economy, helping companies turn complex consumption into billable revenue. It was great to nerd out about where Tabs is today, how we’re helping customers monetize increasingly complex usage models, and where this new era of usage-based pricing is headed on Nasdaq’s The Signal. Watch the full clip below. Thanks to Sarah Decker, Kristina Ayanian, and the Nasdaq team for having me on.

Collections isn't just an AR problem. It's why your revenue numbers are one step behind. Manual collections has always meant unpredictable payment timing, hours spent chasing payments, and forecasts you can't rely on. It's manageable early on. It becomes unsustainable as you scale. In our latest blog, we break down how Collections Agent automates the full collections journey from invoice to revenue, so getting paid faster also means your books stay current without manual cleanup at close. EO runs some of the most prolific founder interviews around. This summer I joined the series alongside founders like Max Junestrand (Legora), Luana Lopes Lara (Kalshi), and Arvind Jain (Glean). My biggest takeaway: to grow fast, you sometimes have to start slow. Founders are told to move fast and break things. But real speed comes after you've walked before you run. Before Tabs had a single line of code, my co-founders and I spent almost six months talking to hundreds of Finance teams and just as long figuring out exactly who our first customers should be. It wasn't glamorous. One investor called Accounts Receivable "the most boring problem" I could've picked. We also got into the questions every founder should answer before scaling: -Why your first 10 hires should think nothing like you -Why your role as CEO should shrink as your team grows -How AI is reshaping every function at Tabs...not just engineering Watch the full interview on YouTube, linked in the comments. Thanks to TaeYong Kim and Jason Jin, and the EO team, for stopping by Tabs HQ.

Our goal: be the most "AI-pilled" tech company in New York. This month, fresh off a record quarter, we shut the whole company down for 48 hours for our internal Tabs AI Hackathon. One rule: build for Finance and Accounting. The damage: 2 days. 30 hacks built. 80 Sicilian pastries, 13 pizzas, and 160 bagels consumed. Everyone (except the folks keeping customers happy, of course) paused their day jobs to find creative, practical ways to help our customers move faster. Teams were cross-functional by design, BDRs, CS, execs, and engineers all mixed together, and every single team used agents to build, or built agents into their hack. A few favorites: -Jane Blicher, Michael Wardrop, and William L. built a wildly customizable invoice editor, straight from customer feedback. -Raju Kolluru, Chesley Paschal, Rachel Dang, Tishya Khanna, and Fionntan Thinnes built a tool that auto-generates audit-ready ASC 606 memos pulling straight from CRM data, contract terms, and TDR methodology so the memo drafts itself. …And somehow, one team built Dating App Dunning. Huge thanks to everyone who jumped in, and our engineering leader Leo Shklovskii for pushing the tools that make "AI-first, every function" actually possible at Tabs. Excited to get a few of these into production soon.

📅 3 days to go until the 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 event! If you've ever wondered what it actually takes to leave the structure of a Big 4 firm and build something from zero, this is the conversation you don't want to miss. At this event, we're bringing together operators from Tabs and Rillet for an honest look at the jump from auditing other people's businesses to building their own, ideal for accountants and consultants ready to make their next move into tech. No polished talking points, no recycled advice. Just real answers on the tradeoffs, the mistakes, and the moments that made it worth it. You'll hear what "ownership" really means when there's no playbook to follow, how speed changes the way you make decisions, and what it feels like to see your work ship in weeks instead of sitting in review for a quarter. Then stick around. The networking and drinks after are where the best conversations usually happen. Spots are limited and filling up fast. Register today so you don't miss it 👇 📅 Thursday, August 20 | 5:30–8PM 📍 Tabs Rooftop 🔗 RSVP Here --> https://luma.com/tabs-06dw
