AmeriCorps funding has opened school doors for thousands of Teach For America corps members, including TFA alum Gloria Brown, MBA (now the Chief of Staff with TFA Metro Atlanta). As a FAMU graduate who had to take on student loan debt, Gloria shares: “Without [the AmeriCorps Education Award], I would have never been able to become a teacher.” Cuts to vital AmeriCorps supports can keep passionate educators out of the classroom, ultimately impacting the students they serve. We must remain committed to protecting and expanding opportunities for national service so that all students have access to an excellent education. Gen Z is stepping up to the chalkboard! (And we’re taking notice.) 🧑🏫 Despite all of the challenges facing the teaching profession, we've seen an increase in interest from young people wanting to join the corps. What explains this rising tide? Beyond economic factors, Gen Z is hungry for a career full of purpose, community, and tangible impact. This generation wants more than a job, they’re looking for the chance to solve real world problems—and they know the classroom is just the right place to make that happen. “[Gen Z] is ready to roll up their sleeves … and be on the front lines of social change,” Veronica Aguilar, VP of Recruitment. How can your organization get Gen Z excited to enter the classroom? https://bit.ly/46YFd98

Recently, Culture Amp sat down with three of our People leaders to learn how they intentionally support TFA employees and strengthen our culture. 💼 Hear from Tracy-Elizabeth Clay, EVP, People and Administration; Barbara M. Logan Smith, PhD, Chief of Experience and Belonging; and Clifton Johnson, VP, Internal Communications and Knowledge Management below ⬇️
Government Affairs, Politics, Policy, & Education | Senior Managing Director at Teach For America NC
"Over the past five years, Teach For America has navigated extraordinary change...Through it all, they’ve remained committed to connecting to their people... Recently, Culture Amp sat down with three of Teach For America’s HR leaders – Tracy-Elizabeth Clay, EVP, People and Administration; Dr. Barbara Logan Smith, Chief of Experience and Belonging; and Clifton Johnson, VP, Internal Communications and Knowledge Management – to understand how they use transparency, listening, and intentional action to support their people and strengthen their culture." 💡 “Our impact happens through our people. So we have to pay attention to what they are telling us they need as they evolve and change. We must keep up with, anticipate, and align with those needs to keep our kids and communities at the center of what we’re doing.” -Tracy-Elizabeth Clay 💡 “Part of what we’ve learned is folks really have to have clarity around what we are up to and how we are doing it. The absence of clarity – particularly in the context of now – sets folks up to not understand what we’re doing or why.” -Barbara M. Logan Smith, PhD 💡 "The way that we inform [employees] about what’s happening, the work we’re doing, and the impact we’re having needs to be in a way that allows them to see... and recognize their own impact as part of it." -Clifton Johnson 💡 "We have to do this work in service to – and alongside – community. We have to do this work with others. You can’t get twice as many kids doing the things I just described as an isolated entity... You only do that in partnership with the children, their families, and those communities.” -Barbara M. Logan Smith, PhD 💡 "Teach For America’s journey shows what’s possible when a mission-driven organization invests in listening, learning, and evolving with its people. Through ongoing engagement surveys, a willingness to embrace tough feedback, and the tools to turn insights into action, TFA has built a more connected, resilient culture – one that’s equipped to support both staff and students for years to come." #OneDay #TeachForAmerica #Work #Culture #BestPlaceToWork
