Do guests even turn the TV on anymore? The answer is YES. And it's a lot more than you may think. Across 1.1 million hotel rooms, 73% of guests watch TV for 4 hours a day. The timing of when they turn on the TV also says a lot about what they're looking for. Power-ons peak around 9am, again around 4pm, and once more around 10pm - each one tied to a different guest need, from late checkouts to dinner plans to a hotel movie night. With a few small changes to labels and timing, engagement can lift by 4x or more. By timing your on-screen messaging to these intervals, you can boost sales and turn a passive amenity into an active marketing channel that enhances the guest experience.
