Construction for Complex, Sophisticated and Unusual Projects
About us
Our name is new, but our projects are familiar. We founded Singular to put our experience to use towards a better way of doing things — more complex projects, requiring more thought; more transparency; better communication; more innovative solutions. With decades of construction under our belts, we know what we like and what we’re good at: We love projects that require extreme and inventive technical wizardry. We love working alongside architects and engineers on the complex technical requirements of retrofits and seismic upgrades. We love logistical puzzles of mind-bending constraint — raising intricate structures in the middle of busy cities, phasing work in buildings, hotels, offices and retail spaces in which people continue with business as usual. We love the challenge of giving historic structures new life for the next 100 years. We love the exacting demands of the highest-end creations. We love every detail — and the work required to perfect them. Quite simply, we love complexity. Refined to its simplest form, complexity is high design.

Some buildings hold history. The Huntington Hotel holds San Francisco. After more than a century anchoring Nob Hill, the Huntington's reopening isn't just a renovation story; it's a story about what it means to bring something irreplaceable back to life. We're honored to have been part of this landmark transformation, collaborating alongside BAR Architects & Interiors and Build Group, Inc to reimagine one of the city's most beloved hospitality destinations. In this special video, leaders from each firm reflect on the journey, the complexities, the breakthroughs, and the meaning behind the work. Restoring a 100+ year-old building demands more than construction know-how. It requires listening to the structure itself; understanding what's worth preserving, what needs to evolve, and how to weave modern performance standards seamlessly into historic bones. Structural upgrades, life-safety systems, accessibility improvements, and luxury finishes all had to live together respectfully within a building that San Francisco has long called its own. Building on the foundation set by interior designer Ken Fulk Inc and preservation specialists Page & Turnbull, our teams carried that vision forward, honoring the Huntington's legacy while delivering the contemporary hospitality experience guests expect today. The result is something we're genuinely proud of: a project that reflects not just craft and coordination, but a shared belief in San Francisco's future. We're grateful to Highgate, LUCID Development Group, FLYNN PROPERTIES LTD, and every collaborator who poured their expertise into this chapter of the Huntington's story. A special thank you to videographer Sonyamia Blanco for beautifully capturing the story behind the restoration.
