Our safety group recently participated in the inaugural kick-off event for the City of Fort Wayne’s Safe Actions for Everyone (S.A.F.E.) program. The day was all about raising awareness among the city’s more than 2,000 employees. It brought together vendors for interactive demonstrations on how to promote safety while working in various jobs throughout the city, accompanied by fun and good food. Congratulations to Barton Malow for receiving Project of the Year from The Association of Union Constructors! We were proud to be a part of the project, with our national fire protection group providing fire protection and our division Dalmatian Fire providing process fire protection.
Last night, The Association of Union Constructors presented its Project of the Year award to Barton Malow for the BlueOval SK Battery Park Kentucky GE2 Plant in Glendale, Kentucky, at its annual Construction Leadership Conference! The 43-GW capacity, 3.9 million SF lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility will power the next generation of Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles. With over 4.3 million CY of soil moved, 40,000 tons of steel erected, and more than 3,500 craft workers from 40 different states on site at peak, the megaproject was completed in October 2024.
