It’s been a fun few weeks getting more involved with the midstream community! Last week Seismos was proud to sponsor the Permian Basin Association of Pipeliners Delaware Basin Golf Tournament, as well as the Rocky Mountain Pipeliners Club Clay Shoot, where I had the chance to shoot with the Western Midstream team. Beyond the golf and clays, I’ve really enjoyed the conversations around some of the challenges operators are dealing with every day. A few areas we’ve been spending a lot of time on: - Finding and quantifying friction and restrictions that may be limiting pipeline throughput - Measuring DRA effectiveness and identifying opportunities to optimize chemical spend and injection strategies - Screening for corrosion, wall loss, deposits and other integrity concerns on difficult-to-inspect piping - Locating stuck pigs and other restrictions without putting anything inside the line - Applying the same non-invasive acoustic approach to facility piping where conventional inspection can be difficult All of it is done from the outside of the pipe using thread-on acoustic measurements - without interrupting operations. Great getting to spend time with the people actually operating and maintaining these systems, and looking forward to staying involved with both organizations. #Pipelines #Midstream #PermianBasin #FacilityIntegrity #DRA #Seismos

  • A real-time frac decision is only as good as the measurement under it. Craig Cipolla spent last Thursday on what that measurement has to be. Scalable. Perforation efficiency and cluster uniformity, measured from wellhead pressure with no downhole tools. Every well, every stage, every day. Validated. R² of 0.92 against cemented fiber across 50 stages, checked against bottomhole gauges and perforation imaging, published as URTeC 4044703. The most validated surface measurement of completion quality in the industry. Proven at scale. 100,000+ measured stages behind the baselines, the benchmarks and the predictive models. The payoff, from field data: about 7% more nine-month production per 0.1 of Uniformity Index across 200 Bakken wells. Thank you to everyone who joined Craig and Kinleigh Fatheree live. Recording is on demand, link in the comments. #ClosedLoopFracturing #Completions #HydraulicFracturing

One hour with Craig Cipolla on what it takes to run a frac stage on live measurement instead of last month's diagnostics. 2024 SPE Distinguished Member. 90+ technical papers. 45 years in frac at Hess, Schlumberger, Carbo Ceramics, and Pinnacle Technologies. On August 20 he walks through perforation efficiency, cluster uniformity, and the fiber validation work behind acoustic measurement at the wellhead. Kinleigh Fatheree moderates. Thursday, August 20, 1:00 PM CDT. Recording sent to all registrants. Register through the event page below.

We are happy to welcome Gabriel Pedigo as the YP Liason for the Hydraulic Fracturing Technical Section! As a Business Development Manager for Seismos, he has a great deal of experience and knowledge of the industry. We look forward to his help with the young professionals coming into the oil and gas industry, more specifically, hydraulic fracturing and completions and keeping them involved im this section!

On August 20th at 1PM CDT/12PM MDT, I’ll be moderating a Seismos webinar with Craig Cipolla on the path from reliable measurement to real-time fracturing. We’ll discuss how validated surface-based acoustic data can move beyond measurement alone and become an intelligence layer for completions: benchmarking performance, identifying outliers, connecting treatment quality to production, and supporting optimization across full development programs. Would love to have you join us! Register here: https://lnkd.in/g-BZu_ft

  • Most completions teams find out what a stage actually did weeks after the well is online. By then the design conversation is over. On August 20 we are putting Craig Cipolla in front of that problem for an hour. He will walk through how acoustic measurement at the wellhead went from post-stage diagnostics to a number you can act on while the crew is still rigged up: perforation efficiency, cluster uniformity, and the checks against fiber that made us willing to stand behind it. No slideware theory. Field data, validation work, and the honest parts about what it took to trust a surface measurement enough to change a design on it. Kinleigh Fatheree moderates. Bring the hard questions, she will use them. Thursday, August 20 · 1:00 PM CST · Registration link in the comments. #ClosedLoopFracturing #Completions #HydraulicFracturing #OilAndGas

  • Across 85 Midland Basin wells, a 10% gain in perforation efficiency was worth roughly 10% more oil at nine months. That's the number that turns a frac diagnostic into an operating decision. This Thursday, our completions manager Kinleigh Fatheree presents both halves of that story on the ARMA Hydraulic Fracturing Community webinar series: the production study behind the number, and the closed-loop workflow that acts on AFA perforation efficiency stage by stage, while the frac is still being pumped. In the stages that needed intervention, efficiency decline was cut roughly in half. Measure. Validate against production. Act in real time. That's the progression we've been building across 100,000+ measured stages, and this hour walks through the field data behind each step. Thursday, July 23, 9:00 AM Central. No registration needed, Zoom link in the comments. Thanks to John McLennan, Egor Dontsov, and the American Rock Mechanics Association for hosting.
