About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies. Our vision Our vision is that every young person develops: • The knowledge, skills, and confidence to use computers and digital technologies effectively in their work, community, and personal life; to solve problems and to express themselves creatively • Sufficient understanding of societal and ethical issues to be able to critically evaluate digital technologies and their application, and to design and use technology for good • The mindsets that enable them to confidently engage with technological change and to continue learning about new and emerging technologies Our long-term goals 1. Education: To enable any school to teach students about computing and how to create with digital technologies, through providing the best possible curriculum, resources, and training for teachers. 2. Non-formal learning: To engage millions of young people in learning about computing and how to create with digital technologies outside of school, through online resources and apps, clubs, competitions, and partnerships with youth organisations. 3. Research: To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.

  • Applications for STEM SMART 2026/27 are now open 🎉 STEM SMART is a free programme that supports A level computer science students facing educational barriers, helping them to reach their full potential. We run the computer science track in partnership with the University of Cambridge. Students get: 🤝 Mentorship from a current Cambridge student 🧠 Weekly sessions to build their skills and subject knowledge 🎓 And for some, an opportunity to attend a free 4-day residential in Cambridge Help your students get the support they deserve and encourage them to apply before the 31 October deadline.   • We are supporting students in England to build their own machine learning model and use that work to gain a recognised qualification. At present, there is no established qualification route focused on developing technical AI skills, but we know that many young people want to go beyond learning about AI and gain practical experience of developing their own models. We are currently creating a 'Data Science and AI' course for 16- to 19-year-olds that will give them the practical skills and knowledge to undertake a self-directed, AI-related investigation and build a machine learning model as the artefact for an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). On the blog, our Director of Curriculum & Resources, Diane Dowling, shares why we think the EPQ is well suited to learners looking to explore emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and data science, and how our research-informed course will prepare them to pursue their own AI-focused project.   • Marie's story is proof you don't need to be a tech expert to inspire the next generation. ✨ Not knowing how to code didn't stop Marie from starting a Code Club in the heart of Tottenham, creating opportunities for young people to develop their coding skills and build confidence. She learned alongside them and showed that sometimes, you don't need to have all the answers to make a difference. 💚

We made this update to support more learners and teachers around the world with programming activities. This is part of our commitment to designing safe and responsible education technology, including tools that work for diverse needs, abilities, and contexts.
