It's Monday and it's time for Another Dam Good “Built On Us” Story: Boone Dam Built in the 1950s on karstic bedrock filled with voids, crevices, rock pinnacles, and soft soils, the dam's foundation provided countless pathways for seepage beneath the embankment. Addressing those conditions required a solution as complex as the geology itself. We constructed an extensive grout curtain using resonant sonic drilling, MPSP installation, bedrock drilling, water pressure testing, and high mobility grouting. More than 200,000 gallons of grout were injected deep into the foundation to seal seepage pathways and strengthen the ground below. The project also included construction of an 840-foot-long secant pile cutoff wall extending up to 170 feet below grade. Installed through the embankment and into the underlying karst formation, the overlapping concrete piles created a continuous barrier designed to cut off water flow through the foundation. Together, the cutoff wall and grout curtain formed a powerful one-two punch against seepage. When water finds a way, we find a solution! #BuildOnUs #SeepageMitigation

Construction of the new pump station at the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati's Mill Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant continues to move full speed ahead. Despite Mother Nature trying to join the party with the Derecho storms across Ohio, we've now completed 10 of 35 panels, poured more than 3,000 CY of concrete, and installed over 300 tons of reinforcement steel. The progress speaks for itself! Most importantly, everyone kept safety front and center while keeping the momentum going. Win, win! #BuildOnUs #PumpingUpProgress

A few grout cubes a day keep the surprises away! Those little cubes might be small, but they sure are mighty. Think of them as the grout's audition. When the cubes pass the test, it confirms the mix is meeting the design requirements. Once grout is placed, it bonds soil and rock, transfers loads, protects steel from corrosion, and helps micropiles, anchors, and other geotechnical elements function the way they were intended to. After all, confidence is built on proof, not assumptions. That’s why you can Build On Us. #BuildOnUs #GroutCubes

After two years of interning, countless site visits, working alongside our PMs, and digging into estimating, Samantha Achille has proven she can handle just about anything the construction industry throws her way. She has jumped into every opportunity to learn and make an impact. So...this winter, she's trading her intern title for full-time Project Engineer! We’d say her career has been under construction, but honestly, she's already built something pretty impressive. Congratulations, Sami! Your internship may be complete, but the next phase is just getting started👷♀️ #BuildOnUs #BuildingTheFuture

Next up in our Built On Us series: a project that knocked it out of the park⚾ When the Baltimore Orioles pitched the idea to expand left field at the iconic Oriole Park at Camden Yards, we stepped up to the plate. Our team designed and built a 3,000-square-foot soil nail wall, installing more than 130 soil nails to support the left field wall. With a tight deadline and one of baseball's most recognizable stadiums as the backdrop, our crew delivered a winning solution. The finished wall now sits behind the outfield padding, helping set the stage for future highlight reels and homeruns. #BuildOnUs #OriolePark #SoilNailWall
