Today, we published our 2026 Responsible AI Transparency Report. One of the clearest lessons from our work is that responsible AI governance is not a destination. It’s an ongoing discipline that must evolve alongside the technology itself. This year’s report shares how we’ve re-engineered our Responsible AI Standard to address emerging AI capabilities, strengthened our risk-based approach to governance, and continued to translate what we’re learning into the tools, practices, and processes that help operationalize responsible AI across Microsoft. While technology continues to evolve, our AI principles remain a constant foundation. They guide how we approach new challenges, evaluate risks, and build accountability into our work. Transparency is an important part of that process. By sharing our progress, challenges, and lessons learned, our goal is to contribute to stronger AI governance across the broader ecosystem. No organization can do this alone. Advancing responsible AI will require continued collaboration, shared learning, and collective action across industry, government, academia, and civil society.
