Virginia prison officials intercepted a package containing an estimated $324,000 worth of contraband following an attempted drone incursion at Sussex I State Prison, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections. Corrections staff discovered the “suspicious package” at about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Authorities said the seizure included suspected methamphetamine, cellphones and a range of other items that officials believe were intended to enter the prison. https://lnkd.in/eqXteY7w

Drones used to deliver contraband to a prison in Strasbourg, France, have disrupted nighttime emergency helicopter operations at one of the city’s main hospitals, forcing medical aircraft to land elsewhere and adding up to 45 minutes to some patient transfers. For several weeks, Civil Security and SAMU emergency medical helicopters have been unable to land at Hautepierre Hospital at night because of the risk of colliding with drones operating near the facility, according to the Bas-Rhin prefecture. https://lnkd.in/e2DyWR45

U.S. military bases remain vulnerable to drone attacks because the military lacks sufficient sensors and countermeasures to detect and defeat drone swarms, according to a senior NORAD commander. Army Lt. Gen. Joseph Jarrard, deputy commander of U.S. Northern Command and vice commander of the American contingent of NORAD, said the military is developing tactics and procedures to defend domestic installations against small unmanned aircraft but is not yet adequately equipped to counter large-scale drone attacks. https://lnkd.in/eE5NkaP3

Fundamentally what this allows us to do is aggregate demand signal to industry, provide price transparency to the department, avoiding buying the same thing multiple times for different amounts, collect and disseminate operational accessments, and give feedback to industry faster than legacy programmatics.
