We’re proud to announce the successful completion of the first semester of our new Internship Program at MSI Security! In partnership with the Indiana University Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, we placed Mia Gridley, a current IU student, directly into the field as a security officer. This hands-on experience gave Mia real-world exposure to the daily processes, procedures, and responsibilities of professional private security. Mia shared this powerful reflection: “MSI Security’s Internship Program has encouraged me to become more involved in serving my community, both inside and outside of the job site. By applying learning strategies from my coursework and integrating them with the hands-on experience obtained from the position, I am continuously improving my approaches to ensuring public safety and building trust and connections with citizens. With MSI’s guidance, I was ultimately capable of acquiring and utilizing crucial problem-solving and decision-making capabilities that will prove invariably useful.” We couldn’t be more impressed with Mia's growth and dedication. Programs like this are exactly how we build the next generation of security professionals who are both skilled and community-focused. Last week, MSI Security capped off its celebration of 10 years in service with those we’ve been fortunate enough to share this journey with. The event featured a celebratory ribbon cutting, awards to some of our valued partners, and (of course) incredible pizza. As a veteran- and minority-owned small business founded in 2016, we've been proud to deliver dedicated, presence-based security solutions across Indiana. Reaching this decade mark is a true testament to the support we've received along the way. A huge thank you to: The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce for its dedication to MSI and other like-minded small businesses. Heartwork Brewing, a Bloomington native and veteran-owned small business, for hosting our celebration. The MSI team, both current and former, for their commitment to MSI’s mission and to our communities. As we celebrate 10 years of service, we are incredibly grateful for support from organizations like the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. With a decade of impact behind us, we're more excited than ever for what's to come!

Ten years ago today, Jeffrey Nesbitt founded Marshall Security LLC, now known as MSI Security. Taking the leap many talk about, and enduring the struggles many do not, Jeff and MSI Security have grown into a prominent leader in the private security industry in the state of Indiana. Throughout this month, we will celebrate the past 10 years of MSI Security by recounting its origin, sharing insight into its growth, and highlighting the vision of its future from executive leadership and MSI clientele. These three topics will be shared through weekly Thursday posts, starting today with MSI’s Origin. ---- With nearly 25 years of security experience, and a decade owning and operating MSI, Jeff Nesbitt’s experience runs deep. So, to truly understand MSI’s story, we must start before it existed. At 22 years old, Jeff stood at a crossroads familiar to many young adults. While his path wasn’t fully clear, his purpose was: helping others. That mission led him to the United States Coast Guard, where he served in Search & Rescue and Law Enforcement operations. Beginning this semester, MSI Security is proud to partner with Indiana University Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice to offer a 15-week internship. Designed to provide hands-on, experiential learning, MSI’s work program will immerse students in real-world private security operations and training. We hope this partnership serves as a first step in strengthening the broader security industry by helping develop well-trained, confident, and capable security professionals. We look forward to the opportunities this program will create for students, partner organizations, and MSI alike.
