How can education evolve to serve changing community needs? The Pressley Ridge Day School in Pittsburgh is an approved private school and partial hospitalization program to support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth.     Recognizing that the built environment plays a critical role in emotional regulation, the design weaves a layered system of self-regulation spaces throughout both learning environments and circulation areas, allowing students to access support at every stage of their day. From quiet alcoves to engaging transition zones, these spaces empower children to manage their sensory and emotional needs as they move through the school, fostering a sense of safety and predictability that is essential to their well-being and readiness to learn.     Within the classrooms, our DesignGroup team prioritized abundant natural light to create warm, inviting spaces that support focus and reduce stress. We’re pleased to welcome Gabriella Rancitelli to our healthcare team as an Interior Designer in our Columbus office. She achieved her dream of becoming a life-long Buckeye after graduating from The Ohio State University this May with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Her senior capstone project focused on a community hub that supported education, job readiness, and personal growth. That project helped her gain experience in adaptive reuse strategies and ADA compliance coordination of interior design or planning. For the 11th year, our Pelotonia team participated in this annual cycling event benefiting cancer research at Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute. Riders from both our Columbus and Pittsburgh studios pedaled more than 450 miles combined, raising $14,000 and bringing DesignGroup's total contribution to more than $225,000. Now in it's 18th year, Pelotonia has raised well over $300 million for prevention and early diagnosis programs, development of enhanced cancer therapies, and the creation of the pioneering Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology. The Ohio State University has been a DesignGroup client for decades, and we are again honored to contribute to this amazing cause. For the first day in our new Columbus studio, Managing Principal and Design Director Joseph Mayer, AIA, WELL AP continued a great tradition: the Principal Breakfast. Once a month, DG leadership brings an elaborate spread for the whole staff to enjoy (often hand made!). This time Joe treated us, and he and Principal and Senior Interior Designer Alana Haslow, NCIDQ, LEED AP, IIDA gave a toast to the new office.   Thank you, Joe, for the delicious food and a proper introduction to our new studio and all the ways it will serve our people and clients. After 26 years located on the corner of E. Main Street and Washington Ave., DesignGroup's Columbus studio is moving to a new home in Franklinton. 515 E. Main, designed by former Principal Jack Hedge, was a base for countless projects, people, and partnerships that made DesignGroup what it is today. It also included thoughtful energy-saving features that lowered consumption and served as a learning lab for staff and clients — years before LEED became an industry standard. "The building on Main Street represented who we were and what we could become," said CEO Sherm Moreland. "Our new home represents the next generation of DesignGroup. So we say farewell to building that was so good to us, and look forward to a new space with even more potential."
