Some of the best learning doesn't happen at a desk. Seeing a project in the field gives our team a better understanding of how what we design in the office translates from plans to real life. Our Colorado team took our new hires and interns on a project field trip to visit several CAGE projects throughout the Denver area. From active industrial developments to completed residential communities, the day offered a firsthand look at how ideas on paper become places people live, work, and use every day.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give to fellow students is not to lock yourself into a single career path too early. Over the last few years, I've had the opportunity to experience civil engineering from multiple perspectives, starting as a field materials tester, then as a general contractor intern, and now as a land development design intern at CAGE. Each role has taught me something different and played a significant part in my growth as an engineer. As I finish my internship at CAGE Engineering, Inc., I’m grateful for the opportunity to explore these different areas of the industry and gain a broader understanding of where a career in civil engineering can lead. Looking back on this past summer, I’m especially proud of the opportunity to see my design concepts come to life through real projects at CAGE. Creating a complete Civil IFC set, designing various utility paths and exhibits, and gaining field surveying experience throughout the design process gave me a deeper appreciation for engineering and the impact of thoughtful design. It was incredibly rewarding to turn my classroom knowledge into meaningful work. A huge thank you to Lyndsey Stallter, P.E. and Jake Lee for always being willing to answer my questions and offer guidance whenever I needed it. I’m also grateful to my mentor, Dan Burns, the people team, and everyone at CAGE who took the time to share their knowledge and help me grow my skill set through training. Your support and willingness to invest in my development made this experience incredibly rewarding and left a lasting impact on me as I continue my career. I wrap up this summer with a much stronger understanding of engineering design, significantly more experience with CAD, and valuable hands-on exposure surveying in the field. From concept to completion, West 108 is complete! CAGE provided the civil engineering site design for this new 75,000 SF Class A industrial development in Westminster, Colorado. Our work included roadway improvements, site planning to support future commercial development, and stormwater infrastructure featuring a unique outfall that conveys stormwater through a meandering stream to Walnut Creek. Team Scuderia CAGE hit the track once again for DuPagePads' Drive for 155! We were excited to bring home a 2nd-place finish in the Sportsman Class, but the real victory was seeing DuPage Pads exceed its fundraising goal to support individuals experiencing homelessness. From design through construction, CAGE's civil engineering and survey teams partnered with ARCON to help bring Larkin High School's new stadium to life. Our survey team completed the boundary and topographic survey, while our engineering team designed the track and athletic field, underground stormwater detention system, site grading, utilities, and secured project permitting. When it was time to break ground, our survey team returned to provide construction staking, helping bring the design to life in the field. It's exciting to see another milestone reached, and we can't wait to see students, athletes, and the community enjoy this facility this fall! School District U-46's Larkin High School's new stadium is starting to come to life - exciting progress continues on this transformational project! The visitor bleachers have been delivered and set in place, giving a glimpse of the future game-day experience. The concessions pavilion structure is progressing steadily, while both the home and visitor ticket booth structures are now standing and advancing quickly. Every week of progress brings us closer to that first home game! Go Royals!
