Exciting Milestone Achieved! Our Project Pele prototype microreactor has received Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis (PDSA) regulatory approval from the U.S. Department of Energy, a major step forward for this groundbreaking program. We’re on track to finish the full build and deliver the unit to Idaho National Laboratory next year for fueling and testing. Once operational, this will become the first fully functioning power plant for the U.S. military and the Department of War, demonstrating a new era of resilient, scalable energy. Thank you to our team, our partners and the innovation driving this mission forward. #ProjectPele #BWXT #MicroReactor

In this Supplier Spotlight, we feature BWXT, a proud partner helping advance OPG's nuclear projects and operations. The company's facility in Cambridge is a key player for Ontario's nuclear sector, as it manufactures large, heavy nuclear components - from steam generators to heat exchangers. At this manufacturing hub, BWXT is now putting together the massive reactor pressure vessel that will form the heart of the G7's first SMR at Darlington. Workers are also machining, welding, and assembling the large steel vessels that will make up new steam generators for Pickering Nuclear's refurbishment. With nuclear demand growing, the company is now expanding its Cambridge facility to ensure it can continue to deliver heavy-duty components for OPG and the province.

Last week, our team joined the E2E Nuclear Economy Panel at the Education to Employment Summit—an event focused on building the future nuclear workforce. Moderator Bob Cantler led a thoughtful conversation with BWXT's Al Onley, TVA’s Jamie Choate, and TCAT welding student Jazmyne Gunn, highlighting how emerging talent is stepping up to support a sector evolving to meet growing energy demands. We’re proud to contribute to discussions that help shape the next generation of nuclear professionals. #WorkforceDevelopment #NuclearEnergy

Advanced reactors are becoming essential to meeting rising energy demands. At the Northern Virginia Chamber’s (NVC) C‑Suite Roundtable, our president of Government Operations, Joe Miller, shared how SMRs and microreactors can strengthen grid resilience, support AI‑driven load growth and deliver reliable, zero‑carbon power where customers needed most. With growing requirements for decarbonization and energy independence, advanced reactors are the scalable solution. Backed by 75 years of nuclear expertise and expanded manufacturing capacity, BWXT is ready to move proven designs into deployment. We are pleased to welcome Jun Tang, Vice President of Marketing & Sales, Commercial Operations at BWXT, to the third edition of Pioneering New Nuclear in Western Canada, taking place September 16–17, 2026, in Edmonton. Jun will join the discussion on Delivering New Nuclear: Building the Workforce and Supply Chain, examining what it will take to build the industrial capacity, skilled workforce, manufacturing capabilities, and supplier networks required to support the next generation of nuclear projects in Canada. With a 30-year career at BWXT spanning engineering, project management, and commercial leadership, Jun brings extensive experience across Canada's nuclear manufacturing and supply chain. In his current role, he leads product and service sales activities across Canadian and international markets for BWXT's Commercial Operations, which supports the global nuclear industry through engineering, critical components, services, and fuel. Jun also served for a decade on the Board of Directors of the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries, contributing to efforts to strengthen Canada's nuclear supply chain and advance the country's nuclear energy sector. We look forward to welcoming Jun to Edmonton and benefiting from his perspective on how Canada can build the capacity required to deliver its nuclear ambitions.
