Demolition has begun! Goose Creek High's 300 wing started the demolition process last week. In its place, a new two-story facility is being built, which will provide nearly 41,000 square feet of instructional space to GCH! #MakingAPositiveDifference #PennyProject #SchoolRenovation #PublicEducation #BerkeleyCountySC

About us
Make a positive difference! Berkeley County School District has 48 school sites and includes the cities of Goose Creek and Hanahan, along with parts of Charleston and North Charleston. The towns of Berkeley County include Bonneau, Jamestown, Moncks Corner, St. Stephen, and parts of Summerville. We believe our students are more than data points, and teachers are encouraged to personalize learning and innovate in the classroom as they prepare students for life after school. From adaptability and critical thinking to resilience and collaboration - our students are getting what they need for college, the work force, the military or whatever finds them after graduation.

In a crisis situation, preparedness is key. Prior to the start of school, our Office of Safety and Emergency Management held drills for school staff and our SROs to be ready in an emergency situation. As always, thank you to our law enforcement partners for participating in these drills and helping us ensure student and staff safety. School safety is always our top priority. #makingapositivedifference #schoolsafety #publiceducation #publicsafety

Berkeley Elementary is busy growing young minds! During its Kick-Off to Kindergarten event, incoming BES kindergarteners were encouraged to plant a flower in the school garden. Upon arrival back at school, the Little Stags have loved seeing how much their flowers have grown! 🪷 #makingapositivedifference #publiceducation

Congratulations to Tyra Ramsey, our Director of Transportation, on being elected Chair of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators Transportation Roundtable for the 2026-2027 school year. SCASA is the preeminent professional organization for public education leaders in South Carolina. Their roundtable groups each meet multiple times throughout the year and serve as collaborative forums where school leaders can share insights, discuss emerging issues, and exchange best practices with their counterparts from other South Carolina school districts. #makingapositivedifference #publiceducation #schooltransportation #professionaldevelopment

The safety of our students, staff and schools is always our number one priority. Last week, our SROs participated in our annual summer training, which included multiple drills focusing on protecting our schools in extreme situations. We are truly grateful to our law enforcement partners for their commitment to school safety and our students. #makingapositivedifference #publiceducation #publicsafety

Everybody gets excited for back to school, including the teachers! Along with professional development, one of our favorite activities during our New Teacher Summit is Teacher Forum's stop-and-shop, where new teachers pickup supplies for their new classrooms. #makingapositivedifference #publiceducation #firstyearteachers #teachersupport
