In biotech and pharma we sometimes act like the fact that drugs take 8-12 years and 1-2 billions dollars to develop is inevitable. That Eroom’s Law is… well, a law. And that the optimism of people in tech is silly. But what if optimism could be backed up by real progress. What if every decision on the path to a drug was just a bit better. Every study was correctly designed. And every experiment got done just a bit faster. Agents can help. We’re finally moving out of the hype and into the plateau of productivity. Agents should be deeply integrated into every piece of software you use, which is why I’m excited to announce the Preview of Benchling Agents. My favorite part of our Agents is how they put the scientist in control. I’ve seen scientists set up Agents to help create control charts and improve data quality. Team leads getting regular weekly updates without having to bother their reports. And executives setting up automated program updates to stay up to date. The possibilities of what you can do with Agents are endless. Agents don’t just analyze data, they take action: registering molecules, documenting data, and updating workflows. And they run automatically as work happens. We’re already seeing what this unlocks: Better decisions by bringing more context. At one pharma company, Agents narrowed 20 potential mouse models down to two by finding historical data their scientists didn’t know existed. Less whitespace between experiments.
