Oh, what a night! 🗽 April’s dev/ai/nyc at our NoHo Space was pure magic. A huge thank you to Hidden Door co-founder and famed data scientist Hilary Mason, who joined our very own Head of WP Cloud Jesse Friedman for a deeply insightful fireside chat. And a tremendous thank you to all of the attendees, you brought your curiosity and perspectives to what was yet another packed house. This monthly AI-focused event continues to prove that the future of applied AI is complementary, not contradictory, with the future of open source. Here are a few of our favorite snaps! 🍎Watch the full fireside chat and see more photos: https://lnkd.in/eAy4sW7B 🍎If you like what you saw, apply for our in-office (!!!) NYC AI Team: https://lnkd.in/gbWek3Uv 🍎And stay tuned for the next one in May!

AI agents are here, and they need a foundation to build on. James Grierson, our Head of Global Expansion, shares why WordPress is uniquely positioned to lead this next era of the web. "WordPress wasn’t initially designed to be the operating system of the agentic web,” James shares. “But the principles it was built on—openness, extensibility, community, and standards—turn out to be exactly what this moment requires." Some of the key takeaways: 🔹Scale: WordPress powers around 43% of the web, providing a massive, battle-tested ecosystem for AI. 🔹Transparency: Open source code allows agents to learn, verify, and extend features in ways proprietary platforms cannot. 🔹Connectivity: With new features like MCP support from WordPress.com, agents can manage content through natural conversation. In short, the very principles WordPress was built on are exactly what the agentic web requires. Read his full perspective on the Automattic Newsroom blog: https://lnkd.in/gd7R7zUi

It’s Radical Speed Month at Automattic! 💨 For the next month, we will try something new, exciting, and radically different. Across our teams and brands, we step away from the day-to-day to pair up, build, and ship a passion project. This month-long hackathon is a first at Automattic, and we’re so excited to see what our 400-plus teams of two create with WordPress and beyond. Here’s how it works: ⚡️The project can be anything, as long as it’s not something we’re currently working on–from an AI bot to a microsite to a redesign. ⚡️No permission is needed; the pair ships whatever they put their name on. In other words, we’ve partnered up, picked a project, and now it’s time to ship it! ⚡️This is not about perfection, it’s about being low-fi, high productivity, championing big ideas, and sheer creativity. ⚡️From WordPress.com to WooCommerce to Jetpack and WordPress VIP, all bets are off, and all hands are on deck. By removing traditional gatekeeping and focusing on output over input, we explore how to find a problem and move fast towards a solution. We encourage participants to use the hashtag #radicalspeedmonth here and across social media, where we’ll share updates and before-and-afters all month. Stay tuned! It’s going to be radical.
