How to Use Photo Mode

It's only fitting that a game as visually beautiful as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would finally get its own Photo Mode. With the release of the Next-Gen Update, players on next-gen consoles and PC can now take stunning screenshots within the world of The Witcher 3 with the all-new Photo Mode feature.

How to Use Photo Mode in The Witcher 3

Before the update, taking excellent screenshots could be extremely challenging—from figuring out the perfect angle to the in-game HUD getting in the way of the perfect moment. Thankfully, those problems are no longer the case with Photo Mode.

Photo Mode is a newly added feature that'll pause the game whenever you'd like, allowing you to capture some of the best moments as you play the game.

Accessing Photo Mode is as easy as pressing one or two buttons. For PC, press "U" on your keyboard, and for consoles, press your left and right stick simultaneously—that's the LS and RS for Xbox Series X/S, or the L3 and R3 for PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch players won't be able to access Photo Mode.

  • You can use Photo Mode whenever you like, whether during an epic monster fight or when you're out exploring—you can't use Photo Mode only during cutscenes and dialogues.

How Photo Mode Works

When you use Photo Mode, you can see the instructions in your screen's bottom left corner and a black menu box in the bottom right corner. Photo Mode gives you a 360 camera movement, allowing you to grab screenshots from any angle you prefer.

You can move and rotate the camera and adjust the distance using your joy-cons/mouse. To select a different tab on the menu, click on "E" or "Q" to go left and right, or the RB/LB and R1/L1 if you're on consoles.

  • You can change your Field of View (FOV) and the Tilt in the Camera tab.
  • Under the Depth of Field tab, you can turn on and off the Depth of Field and Autofocus. You can adjust the camera's Aperture and Focus Distance here as well.
  • If you're trying to adjust the Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Temperature, etc., you can do so under the Effects tab.
  • Lastly, if you want to add some Vignettes to your photo, you can do from the Overlay tab.

Where to Find Witcher 3 Screenshots

You can find all the screenshots you take using Photo Mode under your local saves folder on your PC or in your gallery for consoles. The default location for Windows is as follows:

  • C:\Users\YourAccountName\Documents\The Witcher 3\screenshots
