Disney Dreamlight Valley often has secret prizes you can earn by navigating through long quest series. Mickey’s trusty hound, Pluto, is one such reward, and he’s by far one of the trickiest animals to find and meet.
If you’re eager to get this pup at your side, you’re going to have to put in quite a lot of work to make it happen. Recruiting him is a long process that requires you to check off many different missions along the way, so here’s how to unlock Pluto in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to get Pluto in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Pluto is a quest reward Companion granted after completing a series of missions in DDV. He was added in the Feb. 11 update, but couldn’t actually be recruited until Feb. 25 at the earliest, as new missions to unlock him were added weekly. He’s now available to unlock and will always be obtainable, so there’s no rush for getting him.
The beloved canine is one of the most complex characters to get, as he’s got a massive list of required prerequisites that must be met before he can be found. Here’s everything you need to have done to recruit him to your valley.
- Unlock the Lady and The Tramp Realm.
- The door to this Realm can be found on the top level of the Dream Castle near the right corner.
- Unlock Lady and Tramp.
- Feb. 11 – Investigate some tumbling spaghetti in The Spaghetti Incident quest.
- Feb. 18 – Visit the home of a beloved canine villager to sniff out some mysterious meatballs around three villager houses in the Life’s a Meatball quest.
- Feb. 25 – Watch closely to find some fishy tomatoes floating around the valley in the A Curious Dish quest.
- Revisit some magical Mementos you’ve acquired throughout your valley adventures.
- The Secret Journal.
- The Kaleidoscope.
- The Birthday Party Invitation.
- The Nostalgic Instant Photos.
- The New Comfort Bear (Special Plush Bear Sewing Machine).
- Pluto’s Collar.
- Complete The Memento quest.
- Complete The Moose Hunt quest.
Unlock the Lady and the Tramp Realm

The first step in this process is to unlock the Lady and the Tramp Realm. If you have all other Realms unlocked, it’ll cost you 13,000 Dreamlight to enter this one. The price may vary from this if you don’t have all other Realms open, as the pricing scales based on how many doors you’ve opened.
Unlock Lady and Tramp
Once you’ve entered the Realm, get to work on all quests you get there to unlock Lady and Tramp. There are three missions you need to work through to unlock Tramp, and one additional one to recruit Lady.
Complete The Spaghetti Incident quest (Feb. 11)
After getting the iconic dog duo in your valley, you need to unlock and start a quest called The Spaghetti Incident. This is the first official mission in the quest series for unlocking Pluto. Here’s what you need to do to start and work through it.
- Check your mailbox for a letter from Merlin. You’ll get this letter shortly after Lady arrives in the valley. There are no other prerequisites for it, so just keep checking until it arrives.
- Travel to the Dream Castle and catch four Rolling Spaghetti. There are massive spaghetti balls rolling around this building, and you must catch four of them to proceed.
- Catch more Rolling Spaghetti around the valley. Catch three more on Dazzle Beach and another three in the Mystical Cave.
- Open the Memory. After catching the Rolling Spaghetti in the Mystical Cave, a Memory will drop nearby. Interact with the Memory to open it and reveal the first part of a Memory that leads to Pluto.

Complete the Life’s a Meatball quest (Feb. 18)
The next mission you’ll need to get done to unlock Pluto was unlocked on Feb. 18 and is called Life’s a Meatball. This one asks you to visit the home of a canine villager to find some mysterious meatballs, then to explore three villager homes to clear away the meatball debris left in each. Here’s what needs to be done throughout this quest.
- Open your mailbox to open Merlin’s “Our Spaghetti Suspicions Thicken!” letter. The other prerequisites listed before this must be finished before this letter arrives.
- Get rid of the Magical Meatballs at Lady and Tramp’s home. Visit their house and use your Royal Shovel to clean up the mess there.
- Visit three more villager homes to clear up and gather Magical Meatballs. Travel to Ursula’s house, Goofy’s house, and Mickey’s home to find more meatballs you can get rid of.
- Open the Memory. After cleaning up Mickey’s house, a Memory will drop nearby. Open it to reveal the second piece of the Memory related to unlocking Pluto.

Complete the A Curious Dish quest (Feb. 25)
A third main mission for unlocking Pluto was unlocked on Feb. 25, and is called A Curious Dish. This one focuses on finding some mysterious tomatoes around the valley and is the last spaghetti ingredient we’ll have to deal with. Here’s everything you need to tackle in this mission.
- Find a Shiny Tomato. This is how you trigger the quest, as it remains a secret until you acquire this item. This item spawns in the Peaceful Meadow biome and can be fished out of a sparkling golden ripple spot using your Royal Fishing Rod.
- Track down a chef or a wizard. Talk to a cook, like Tiana, or a wizard, like Merlin, to determine what you can do with the strange Shiny Tomato you found.
- Find more Shiny Tomatoes. Traverse around the Peaceful Meadow biome, the Glade of Trust biome, and the Forest of Valor biome to obtain a total of six Tomatoes.
- Cook Memorable Spaghetti and Meatballs. Visit a cooking station and combine the Rolling Spaghetti, the Magical Meatballs, and the Shiny Tomato Sauce together to cook this dish. Then, take it to Lady and Tramp in their house.
- Open the Memory. After feeding this dish to Lady and Tramp, open the Memory that spawns nearby to reveal the final piece of the Pluto Memory.
- Reassemble Pluto’s Collar. Head to any crafting station to fix up Pluto’s Collar.

Acquire all Mementos
When it comes time to actually get Pluto, you’ll need to have obtained all available Mementos. There are six of them from various adventures you’ve had while in the valley. Here’s how to get each one.
- Unlock Jasmine, get your friendship with her to level 10, and complete her Wild, Wild Wishes quest to claim The Secret Journal.
- Unlock Alice, get your friendship with her to level 10, and complete her A Very Merry Unbirthday quest to claim the Kaleidoscope.
- Get the Birthday Party Invitation by working through the A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping quest with Cogsworth and Lumiere in the Beauty and the Beast Realm. You have to have both Belle and the Beast unlocked from the same Realm before you can recruit these two.
- Unlock Cinderella, get your friendship with her to level seven, and complete the A Dream Come True quest to claim the Nostalgic Instant Photos.
- Unlock Joy and Sadness, get your friendship with both characters to level 10, and complete the Create A Bear quest to claim the New Comfort Bear. Later on, during The Moose Hunt quest with Merlin, where you actually work on getting Pluto, he’ll transfer the magic from the bear over to a Special Plush Bear Sewing Machine to make the process easier.
- Complete the A Curious Dish quest with Lady to piece together Pluto’s Collar.

Complete The Memento quest
Once you have all of the Mementos besides Pluto’s Collar, Merlin will send you some mail to start The Memento quest. All you need to do for this one is meet up with him and chat about the strange items you’ve acquired.
Complete The Moose Hunt quest
The final unlock mission for Pluto is The Moose Hunt, which Merlin gives you after everything else listed above has been completed. This is the quest where you finally recruit Pluto to the valley, so here’s how to tackle it.
- Gather items for Merlin’s Memento spell. To summon Pluto, you need to gather and give Merlin 10 Vitalys Crystals, 15 Stone, the Special Plush Bear Sewing Machine, The Secret Journal, the Kaleidoscope, the Birthday Party Invitation, the Nostalgic Instant Photos, and Pluto’s Collar.
- Head to the Vitalys Mines. This hidden mine area can be found under the waterfall near the north end of the Sunlit Plateau region. Inside, you’ll find Merlin and Mickey waiting.
- Find the portal with Mickey. After chatting with Merlin, follow Mickey deeper into the mines to find a magical portal that Pluto is trapped in. Navigate through Mickey’s dialogue to move on.
- Equip Pluto. The portal and Pluto vanish as soon as you finish talking with Mickey, but luckily, he just popped right into your inventory. Equip him as a Companion to progress.
- Chat with Merlin and wrap things up. Talk to Merlin again, then exit the mines to place the Memento Display Shelf he gives you somewhere in the village. Snap a picture when prompted to do so, then talk to Merlin one more time.

As soon as you’re done talking to Merlin, The Moose Hunt quest will be complete. When it is, Pluto is officially unlocked as a Companion. This means you can access him from the Companion tab under the Wardrobe page at any time. While he’s at your side, Pluto can gather fish. You can also assign him to follow around some of his friends instead, like Mickey.
