Purchase options and add-ons

A unique compilation of logical teasers and lateral-thinking problems designed to stretch your brainpower and strengthen your mind.

Riddles, paradoxes, and conundrums have been confusing and confounding people since at least the time of the Ancient Greeks. The eponymous riddle, according to legend, was devised by Albert Einstein as a child. He claimed that only about 2% of the population would be able to work out the correct answer. There are no tricks and there is only one answer. It requires the cool application of logic to solve. And a lot of patience.

Einstein's Riddle features fifty of the toughest logic problems, lateral thinking puzzles, and tests of mental agility. By turns entertaining and infuriating, the puzzles challenge our preconceptions, tell us about how we reason, and provide a rigorous intellectual workout.

For me, this book was well worth the price. It is an odd mix of easy riddles I've heard 1000 times, some that really made me think, and others that simply stumped me. I liked the graphics and the organization of the chapters. I would recommend this for a coffee table (although it's quite small for a hardcover) or a gift. It has been a good conversation starter, especially when I first got it and was carrying it around.

This was a Christmas present for my 15 yr old nephew and he seemed to really enjoy the challenge of solving these riddles. He spent many hours working on them and sharing them with us over the holidays. They were a nice break from the video games the nephews usually focus on when here.

Neurologists encourage those of us who are beginning to become forgetful to exercise the mind as much as we possibly can. Crosswords, Sudoku and so forth are good exercises, but soon they become solveable with less and less mental activity. Books such as this makes the brain stretch itself anew and, hopefully, stay active and preserve our ability to remember and think clearly.

Great book. If the author replaces many of the paradoxes and the conundrums with riddles, perfect

I love the author's good picks of riddles and book design. However, for personal preference to have absolute answers for problems, I would prefer the author to tell more riddles than paradoxes + conundrums. Also, there are no description of the many photos and pictures inside. I suppose those are portraits of great mathematicians and philosophers. Nevertheless, one of the best books of its kind. I found in it the best (yet short) elaboration of the Monty Hall Problem I had ever read. If you want to sharpen your mind, this is it!

This kid has a very high IQ and a curious mind. He seems to take great delight in riddles, etc. that involve science and math.

Not my cup of tea but good for him!

I ordered a book that was supposed to be new but it's obviously used as the cover has tears and is dirty. This book should have been listed as used and in poor condition not new. I was hoping to get a new hard cover copy and I got a used paperback. Very disappointed

This book was described as "very good condition" but the cover looked like it was covered in old food or something. I had to throw the cover away.
