Poor Metatron gets no love for all the steps he took to try and get Dean and Cas together.  The man (angel?) literally gave us “And then, after a rousing speech, his true weakness is revealed: he’s in love!” and “To save Dean Winchester.  That was your ultimate goal, right?  I mean, you draped yourself in the flag of Heaven, but, ultimately, it was all about saving one human, right?” and said that “subtext” was what made a story work, and instant-downloaded all of the world’s pop culture into Cas’ head so that he’d get all of Dean’s previously-squandered references.

Honestly, this is some of the most productive efforts at getting Destiel together that I’ve seen on this show, and it’s criminal that this man’s efforts have gone unnoticed.
