The Commonwealth Motors Co. produced two aluminum bodied Sport Phaetons carring the Goodspeed name in 1922. The two $5,400.00 open American Automobiles were shown at both the 1922 New York and Chicago auto shows.
The Goodspeed was an attemp to market a luxury automobile at the direction of The Commonwealth Motors Co. personnel after production of the Partin-Palmer (1913-1915) and Commonwealth (1917-1922) had ceased.

1922 Commonwealth Mogul Taxicab
The Commonwealth Motors Co. built American Automobiles in Joliet, Illinois and later Chicago, Illinois. In addition they produced a taxicab shown above that ultimately became the famous Checker taxi. The Commonwealth Mogul Taxi cab was equipped with a four cylinder engine that developed 21 horsepower. A selective sliding gear transmission was used that had three speeds forward and reverse.
