This read on UNHINGED is 100% more terrifying than anything in UNHINGED. "A morality tale." Does that message become clear before or after Crowe's character murders all those people because he didn't get an (undeserved) apology he demanded? Fuckin' *yikes* bud. "Empathy?!"

Also be on the lookout for my new podcast "Gargoyles & Gremlins," where each episode I'll discuss another episode of the GARGOYLES cartoon with a guest, but they *must* be a fan of the movie GREMLINS to participate.

Just realized I watched CAST A DEADLY SPELL and THE MORTUARY COLLECTION back-to-back for the most unexpectedly delightful Clancy Brown double feature. I honestly recommend this combo (when possible). The “magic” of both films goes together like gargoyles and gremlins.

There's a bigger apocalypse outside of Yeon Sang-ho's TRAIN TO BUSAN. His sequel, PENINSULA, explores that in beautiful and exciting ways. Check out 's review:

Out this week on digital is OPEN 24 HOURS. Find my review below. A pit-stop bloodbath that attempts various narrative tricks, there are some nifty gore/makeup applications, but gosh is this movie duller than it has any right to be.

Now Watching: UNHINGED (2020). Just kidding, finished it already. A movie about a man who doesn't receive an apology he thinks he's owed so he goes on a killing spree. lol. Crowe is menacing! Commentary is brainless.

My first review is live! So it begins, and we're off to a damn fine start. THE MORTUARY COLLECTION recreates everything there is to miss about 70s and 80s horror anthologies, drenched in blood and stuffed with ghoulish treats. I *dig* it.

Morning review time! Here's my take on RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE, out this week on Shudder. This comic adaptation, where the title says it all, becomes the exact type of senseless expression of gruesome "exploitation" that it attempts to satirize.

[REC] + [REC] 2 are still my golden example when talking about horror sequels that are as good, if not better than the original, but I'm very comfortable adding TRAIN TO BUSAN + PENINSULA to that conversation.

Oh hey, here's my review of PENINSULA (aka TRAIN TO BUSAN 2)! A spectacular sequel evolution with standalone merit. Think LAND OF THE DEAD, FURY ROAD, WORLD WAR Z, all mixed in a blender with FAST & FURIOUS franchise DNA (the later sequels).
