Biography

The Trojan football program is led by former NFL quarterback and coach, Jeff Rutledge. As a college quarterback, he also led the Alabama Crimson Tide to the 1978 AP national title under legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. A full-time staff member at Valley Christian, Rutledge took over the program in 2013 and has led the Trojans to marked improvement, including a playoff berth in 2014.

A three-year starter at Alabama, Rutledge finished his college career 33-5 as a starting quarterback and was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

Rutledge played 14 seasons in the NFL, including an appearance for the Super Bowl-winning New York Giants in Super Bowl XXI.

Rutledge has coached at every level, including as the Arizona Cardinals’ quarterbacks coach during their 2008 Super Bowl run.

Jeff has been married for 37 years to his beautiful bride, Laura, a Registered Nurse Practitioner at Maricopa OBGYN and Associates. Jeff has 3 children and 11 grandchildren, all of whom reside in Nashville, Tennessee.
